CCP has fewer business days in a year than the American School System. The United States is actually the only country in the world that doesn't legally require employers to give time off to their employees. Iceland on the other hand has a minimum of 24 days, though typically paid time off runs higher than the minimum (as it does in the US since our minimum is 0). China only requires 5-15, though my guess is that CCP likely has the same vacation time policy across all studios for simplicity, and likely follows the Icelandic minimum as it is the most out of all the countries they have studios in (to the best of my understanding) So likely, at a minimum, they get 4+ weeks off, but that number is probably a bit higher than 24 days. Dude, they take 6-8 weeks off during winter. Granted, in this instance I am assuming Rattai is not taking personal days off but that everyone over there is also on vacation.
Pokey is 100% accurate, except for that each studio adheres to its national holiday schedule/tradition.

Similar, but Chinese holidays do not align well with the Western holidays (Easter, Christmas etc), so work during those and are then on holiday during non-holiday seasons. This has resulted in the kind of talk that is in this thread. For example the Shanghai office works all of December and takes a New Years break instead of Christmas vacation, during mid-to late January. The misconception being that Dust devs were off from late Dec until end of January is therefore quite wrong, and quite unfair to say the least. Most of the time, Chinese vacation is earned as well, so any additional days have to worked on the weekends before and after a big holiday.
Hope that clears a little bit of this up.
