SMG. I had just enough SP earlier to proto one weapon. That i had to four. AR, CR, SCP, and SMG were my choices.
Asked a few
corp mates/scoutly bros. They said SMG. I didnt really need proto CR, and i hardly use anything beyong ADV breach AR
most of the
time so it was either SCP or SMG. My two favorite weapons sides Charge SR and knives.
My main fit
Six Kin SMG
ISH knives
R-9 links
F45 REs
3 ADV kins (i know)
3 basic shields (i know)
Fluxes even though i forget i have them
It feels weird using proto.

Thanks. Thats my fun run around the map fit. I have a stealth fit but im having lots of fun running at 10.09. Assault SMG is even better i know.

Closed Beta vet
My first proto weapon was the Mass Driver. I never got my AR skill to proto until the last few days before uprising. I hated the AR. I did enjoy the burst and tactical versions, but they cost too much isk for me to run the proto variant so I stayed at level 3-4 I did get my HMG and Forge to proto though.
I spent more sp on equipment and my logistics suit than anything (back then it was 5 million sp for a proto suit rather than 2.5). I also focused on passive skills and modules.
1 week after uprising I had prof 5 in the SCR (because the SCR was released late, letting all of the Caldari Logistics players run free without a counter to their suit)
7162 wp with a Repair Tool!

Like most, my first was AR, second SMG, third...wait. I've been around since open beta and I have 2 proto weapons? I have lots of things on 3 or 4, but I just noticed this. Seems I dumped most of my SP into Dropsuit Command/Upgrades over the "years".

Duvolle. Back then it was the most usefull rifle.
Couldnt afford it (cus runnin in caldari assault was suicide) and used TAC AR most of the time.
After AR spend most sp for core skills.Now almost every gun at 4-5lvl.

As a closed beta vet, I'm gonna be a bit uncommon in saying the Duvolle was -not- my first proto weapon. Nope, for me it was the SMG. Back in Skirmish 1.0 I found using a scout was the best way to get around everyone using the CreoDroon Breach ARs, (because they were far and away better than the Duvolle at the time) and then spray them down with the SMG from behind or above on the canyon walls.
With the atrocious hit detection, the super high ROF meant that at least some of the bullets were going to hit.

Scr was my first Proto, didn't proto another weapon until 1.7 came out, Then from 1.7-now I proto 8(?) weapons. All my other weapons are level 4(Except Ions level 1) |

For me, Small Missile Turret, and AV Grenades. Almost simultaneously----don't remember which I purchased first. It took me a LONG time to decide to proto any hand-weapon. Nearly a whole year.
Honestly, players... when it comes to this game I made my career via DS, staying in the air above all your carnage.
When on the ground, I am strictly a PCC-type merc.
