There was no unfair advantage and you could run any suit. Now..if there are scouts and you're constantly getting killed..because of passive scans and you're a Logi, or Assault you have to switch to a scout to counter. Its really annoying. Just my 2cents. The game was more competitive even though everybody could see each other, now its just run the heavies or the scouts and could just be one of the reasons we see less of any of the other classes out there? It's amazing being able to sneak up on a scout in a heavy suit. Personally I preferred it when we had shared team scans. Always knew where the fight was without having to run around in circles with the blob. Kill Scotty

I use to run a MinLogi with a shotgun. With several complex profile damps in my lows, shields in my highs, and my own scanner to accompany the rest of my equipment. I was speeding in and out of engagements, doing proper logi work when needed, and infiltrating areas to see if there were any threats around. If when I was low on cash, I'd slap several profile dampeners onto my MLT Gallente or Assault G-1 and would run around like a stealthy cheap pseudo-scout. It bothers me because scans back then could be easily avoided. However, very few wanted to give up their "tank" to fit ewar mods and further complained about the OPness of the scanner. Now that scanners have been nerfed to crap and Scouts have become walking 360 invisible perma scanners, the game just isn't fun or balanced. Now, it's as if the only counter to a Scout's ewar is to be a Scout yourself. It wasn't like this before and it's a shame. I miss my stealthy medium frames. I miss seeing "margin of error" when scanning a dampened Scout. It kept me on my toes. There was variety back then but players were just too stupid to change their fits and cried OP at everything they felt was unbalanced.

It was funny (not at the time, at the time it was enfuriating) when they added the cloaks and killed the scanners. Everybody said "oh ewar". The option was there from the begining, but nobody wanted to try to get under the old scanners. They had to kill them, add cloaks, add a bonus decrease to suit sig on the cloak module, then all the people with no gun game suddenly got all high and mighty, acting as if ewar was never an option before. Everybody bitched and moaned about the invisibility glitch, until they were given a mod to replicate it. Then it was cool. CoD514.

In fact I would go as far as saying that was the worst time in the game, because it felt the most like call of duty, but that's only my opinion... Gallente scout, heavy, logi, and assault can't touch my post nerfed flaylock sun....

Thats thier only way of thinking. Back to days of old scanners. Assaults with 2-3damps were invisible to scans. There wasnt many people with profile dampening so it was nice..if you invested the SP and sacrificed HP you would get under the scans, and that was the sacrifice I was willing to make. Of course Chromosome was great, but that was a long time ago. At least 360 scans was recent. Closed Beta was a completely different game to now..and the game we all wanted. Imagine to play hide and seek with someone that does not close his eyes when it's his turn to seek, that is how playing against scouts without a scout. There is no drawback in having less HP if you can see where the enemy is facing, playing with a scout is like playing the first MGS, you have your radar, if you know the map, you can stop watching around and focus on the radar. I've a scout suit, i've realized that everytime i play with it against other frames it's like i'm cheating. A good solution would be to have a unlimited range of scan and decrease precision proportionally to the distance. Range amp would just decrease the decrease.
