Not too sure about everyone else but it was, and people used to moan... but everybody did it. There was no unfair advantage and you could run any suit. Now..if there are scouts and you're constantly getting killed..because of passive scans and you're a Logi, or Assault you have to switch to a scout to counter. Its really annoying. Just my 2cents.
The game was more competitive even though everybody could see each other, now its just run the heavies or the scouts and could just be one of the reasons we see less of any of the other classes out there? I don't know, maybe its just me but it kind of gets boring when its redline after redline. Bring back 360 scans!

I used to do the same buddy. There wasnt many people with profile dampening so it was nice..if you invested the SP and sacrificed HP you would get under the scans, and that was the sacrifice I was willing to make. Now do I choose my proto scout or militia heavy...hmmm its pretty stupid.

Of course Chromosome was great, but that was a long time ago. At least 360 scans was recent. Closed Beta was a completely different game to now..and the game we all wanted. Installations were crazy, sprint sway, female voice overs, Skirmish 1.0 incredible IMHO.
