If you don't want to lose your aiming skills on Dust...
**** me! Three days on the Destiny beta and my aim has degenerated to blueberry levels! The aim assist, man, the aim assist on that game is just the biggest destroyer of muscle memory I have ever experienced short of being away from the PS3 for a straight month!
Just kill me... ;~;

Although I agree that Aim Assist on Destiny is somewhat too strong ( I think they both use reticule magnetism and bullet magnetism), any other game would kill your muscle memory: Dust has some really sluggish and slow aiming mechanics compared to any other game.

I'm actually a better shot now that I have been playing destiny, especially in CQC, however I do still tend to try to Melee with R2 and use Supers when I see a tank......

yeah destiny does f*ck with your aiming when you come back to dust but i get used to it again after a game, its like one of those optical illusions that you stare at and feel like you are tripping balls when you look away. The aim assist in destiny is so strong and noob friendly holy cat.

I always thought that aiming and shooting felt the same in all fps games, but holy crap was I wrong. I played the Destiny beta at a friend's house and everything felt so off.
moving the crosshairs horizontally felt so slow, and strafing while manually aiming felt clunky. T-T Is this how Call of Duty also feels like? If yes, then I never want to play CoD. |

Max out that sensitivity and it's no longer slow and sluggish~! And I don't know how the aim assist works in Destiny, aside from perhaps being made by the same guys who made Guerrilla Glue!

When the AA got buffed back in... what was it... 1.4? 1.3? I'd say it was actually pretty darn close, though it was still smoother than Destiny's, which kinda just yanks your crosshairs to whatever runs across the screen.

Seriously, I've had 100/100 since closed beta and it's still the slowest turn speed on any fps. The controller "feels" bad here on Dust: it's not precise nor responsive, you can easily say there's a good amount of latency between your analog stick moving and your character actually moving the reticule. Battlefield controller feeling is somehow the best feeling I've ever had

Only played CoD once, so I can't answer that, but I think the analogy of CoD and Halo having a baby is a bit off. It's more like Borderlands and Halo's lovechild than CoD's. Maybe Bungie dated em for awhile, but CoD was the guy who showed up on Jerry Springer, only to get told he wasn't the father.
Try jacking that sensitivity up a few notches.

Eh, good point. Hopped on BF3 a few days ago and realized how sluggish it is compared to that game, but eh, I'll take sluggish over insane AA any day of the week!

For real though, my aim was thrown off so bad! It was also a bit of a chore to get used to destiny's aiming. It seems that with every new fps I play I have to completely rework my aim, First played Cod, had good aim on that consistent 40-50 kills a game, went to dust. Trained aiming on dust to a pretty good point. Went from dust to BF3(This was actually the only game where I didn't adjust my aiming) went from bf3 back to dust. Went from dust back to COD, sucked so bad at COD. Didn't even try to train my aim for cod and went back to dust. Dust to destiny, sucked at destiny, went through like 3 days of MP in destiny, had pretty good aim at destiny. Back to dust I suck. Currently trying not to suck anymore.
Edit: also tried borderlands, but didn't even stick with it for more than 2 days( the cartoonish style got me mad, its not for me) |

Oubviously if you lost your aiming skills you most likekly never had any in the first place. I played destiny beta while it was out came back and i had no problem playing dust. But its probably just because im used to how bungies mechanics work.

Should have expected one of these. There's always one. And for about two or three games, yes. Some of us aren't used to playing with aim assist on games and thus don't do too well when swapping between games where there's no option to turn it off.

Eh, I might agree, but games like Battlefield don't do to me what Destiny did to me, and it's much smoother than Dust. It really does have way too much AA, though I'm not sure whether Bungie did that because of how fast the gameplay can be, or because they, like the vast majority, just don't believe that console gamers can live without AA.

well I have played BF3 and some of the COD's, as well as single player fps like bioshock, medal of honor, etc etc
I've also played most of the halos but admittedly only campaign... destiny pvp just feels different than all of them.
at first I wasn't sure I liked it, too many one shots, very twitch, and 6v6 just felt, well, small, not epic...but as I played it more I actually began to enjoy it more than destiny pve.
once I got over the initial instinct to play destiny pvp the way I am accustomed to playing an fps, and started adjusting my playstyle to what bungie envisioned, I found it quite rewarding and competitive.
using the jetpack to flank or evade enemy fire (I discovered quickly how to use aiming down sights in the midst of floating to drop down quickly was an essential evasion tactic in destiny pvp) saving your supercharge for a group kill or at least a strategic kill, using the radar mechanic of staying still to be invis on radar and tracking other players with it etc etc... it has a very unique set of tactics and mechanics as opposed to most other fps games as well as integrating the better parts common between most fps games.
coming back to dust after the destiny beta just felt slow and clunky, as well as unimaginative and uninspired....
I still don't feel like the AA in destiny is OP, if anything the destiny beta just felt more responsive in general, and I honestly cant play more than a few games of dust now without raging at the bugs, lag, and shoddy controls.
destiny ruined dust for me too, sadly... it reminded me what a good game feels like.
this game makes me sad....

The worst aim assist was with rainbow six- rogue spear years ago.
You'd get set to open a door, everyone is clear on what they are doing, you open the door and your reticule snaps to headshots straight away and you clear the room no problem with a pistol in a matter of about 1.5 seconds lol.
NEVER AGAIN!.
That was spiffing.
