We are coming up on 3 months (May 2) since the announcement of DUST's death and Legion and CCP has still not announced that this "project" is even green lit. Does this resonant with anyone else?
There have been no updates, promotion, buzz, chatter, even this Legion GD forum is slowing down because there is nothing to talk about.
With CCP's track record is it a stretch to extrapolate that Legion is a pipe dream? Why so tight lipped?
Wouldn't a company wanting to promote an upcoming product have a Board meeting, determine the viability of Legion, and release the green light so social media can begin talking it up? Release an artist's rendition, screen shot, interview with a dev, something?
Why the delay?
I am an optimist, but I have doubts based on the facts that make me wonder that Legion will ever come to be.

The delay? It takes years to develop a game. If you expect to create the game in a few months you don't understand how software is written.
Also, as for news, read the stickies where there are things like talk of development and ideas - nothing is set in stone so why write a blog - as well as screenshots.
In other words, you are way too impatient and don't understand software development cycle.

I think the OP is more concerned about the lack of any information from the developers as of late and less due to being impatient.
I too am becoming a little concerned that about this but I didn't want to voice my opinion until now as well.

My personal suspicion is that Legion has been all but greenlit. I mean you don't put almost the entire Dust group on a project that isn't going to happen.

I hope that CCP is waiting on ensuring the game is working and that its core gameplay is fun before making a formal announcement. |

It is much more likely they will spend three years trying to make something different than Dust, realize that they no have idea how to turn an idea into reality (this has always been CCP's problem), then re-release Dust on the PC under the name Legion with pretty much the same exact game modes while claiming that the real stuff is coming later, which it never does. |

Roger...sigh...
I sometimes wonder why I bother.
Reread my original post if you need to so that you may understand better. The words can be difficult. Sound them out if need be.
My point is that we haven't heard anything up to this point.
No one expects Legion to have been completed by now.
Oh, and Roger, grown men don't say "lol". Hope that helps you out down the road.

At least a Green Light or not would make sense....since they have Dust they should have a basic frame work to build on right?
Plus Legion has been in the works since EVE Vegas last year.

Yes, it has just been concerning, if that is the right word, that no information of any kind that I know of has been released.
The silence is deafening.
You would think they would throw out a crumb just to keep interest up.
But nothing.
And no one seems too concerned even with CCP's history.

If you follow the stickies, we at least know that the Devs are taking in our feedback. The Salvage thread is of particular interest since its subject seems to change every so often ranging from loot to rogue drones to sky spawning and other things. We at least know they're taking in our feedback.
Beyond that we don't know what they've done. However, the recent article posted by PCGamer seems to indicate that CCP might be close to a green lit project than we might think, but don't quote me on that.

I have read that article and sincerely hope things are moving forward.
But simply taking feedback is a passive posture. It is because of just such ambiguity that I have my doubts.

Well, look in the bright side. You don't have to wait 3-5 freaking years for any news on the next iteration. I had to suffer that bullspit back when I was heavy into the Microsoft Flight Simulator series.
/going off topic for a moment
Then, finally when the new iteration of the simulator got released, it was not all good and gravy and people complained a lot. To make matters worse, the simulator was poorly optimized to the extent that you needed a $3,500 gaming rig just to decently run it and you still suffered memory leaks. Microsoft eventually shut down the studio that produced the simulator shortly after the epic failure that is known as Microsoft Flight. Surprisingly Lockheed Martin purchased the rights and IP of the entire series and used it to develop Prepar3D which is based off of Flight Simulator X but is far more optimized according to the updates and the iterations don't seem to take as long. One more thing, Lockheed also hired the original Aces Studio team that Microsoft used to develop the same series.
/ok now back to topic

I hope that CCP is waiting on ensuring the game is working and that its core gameplay is fun before making a formal announcement. I agree. I think CCP wants to make a splash with the Green Light announcement by showing a working game build rather than vaporware and promises. They know that after their failed promises for DUST that they will need something concrete to show to be taken seriously this time.
I also think they will make the announcement at some sort of big event. I would not put it past them to keep us hanging until next Fan Fest.
