You guys are CCP get away from the lobby shooters, please... I don't care how you swing it, if you're "Scanning , searching, finding friends" just to end up falling back into a lobby (regardless how fancy that lobby is) just to Q up for a PvE or PvP match, lets be frank it's just another lobby shooter this is not what Legion should be... I don't see anything wrong with combining open world and instanced gameplay. Certainly instancing is a dated design however it suits the purposes of us being mercenaries just fine. In all liklihood we are more inclined to deploy to flashpoints all over New Eden as they appear and then rapidly disappear than we are to a massive battles which are out of character. I see some very thematic and interesting options for instanced battles and PVE scenarios as compared to having everything completely open world...... there are something open world gameplay just cannot achieve.
But we're not purely mercenaries, as being one is more of a job that you can do; it's a choice. It's more of a name if anything tbh. So no, that's not correct.
Anyways, it depends how it works. gamemodes mixed with open world won't work unless places are sectioned off for said activities. If you can go onto a district, drive up to a balanced 64 v 64 battle with 5 HAV's and 3 MAV's full of troops, the fight is kinda ruins the purpose of the battle in the first place. Otherwise you'd end up with a odd happening of someone in the same area of a planet and district in a instance and in open world and they don't see each other, and that is not what TQ was made for, quite the contrary.
The result of the above however is that the playerbase gets split up even more than it is now, as well as ideas that can be used for open world would be used for instanced gameplay, and that's silly imo. If you want a structured and quick battle, okay, arenas would work, even VR arenas. That would be sweet, and it makes sense. Otherwise, in my opinion, it would do more harm than good. |

I'm sorry but I don't see Legion competing in the quality of PvE with the likes of Borderlands, Destiny, etc. Plus you are going to end up with Day Z like MMOS such as H1Z1 that will expand on this concept while being open world and frankly leaving Legion playing catch up.
Also, at the end of the day it isn't economic links that is needed to make the link between Eve and Legion something noteworthy but tangible gameplay links that swing both ways. That's really what could make Legion stand out in a crowded market, but instead we're going to end up with CCP playing "wait and see" with the link and flying by the seat of their pants. Weaving together Legion and Eve isn't something that can just be tacked on.
oh good, someone gets it. |
