70% of the Amazon is gone.
4-10 years left until the north pole is gone.
Whole ecosystems are going to die because its happening at a rate that is too quick for the creatures to adapt. In the north pole, polar bears are being found dead from swimming exhaustion and they can swim up to 80 miles in one sitting as far as I know.
We can't even stop it as algae is growing in places where the ice melts as well which further accelerates the process.
Doomed!.
I knew it was bad but not like this.

We speed this all up and it has been proven with ice cores but here you go people. The air as far back as millions of years is trapped in the ice and can be anaslysed. What is happening is natural (except the Amazon) except that if you factor us into it, we completely screw up the process. Its going to be a hot summer.
Copied and pasted of course.
What causes ice-ages?
Fluctuations in the amount of insolation (incoming solar radiation) are the most likely cause of large-scale changes in Earth's climate during the Quaternary. In other words, variations in the intensity and timing of heat from the sun are the most likely cause of the glacial/interglacial cycles. This solar variable was neatly described by the Serbian scientist, Milutin Milankovitch, in 1938. There are three major components of the Earth's orbit about the sun that contribute to changes in our climate. First, the Earth's spin on its axis is wobbly, much like a spinning top that starts to wobble after it slows down. This wobble amounts to a variation of up to 23.5 degrees to either side of the axis. The amount of tilt in the Earth's rotation affects the amount of sunlight striking the different parts of the globe. The greater the tilt, the stronger the difference in seasons (i.e., more tilt equals sharper differences between summer and winter temperatures). The range of motion in the tilt (from left-of-center to right-of-center and back again) takes place over a period of 41,000 years. As a result of a wobble in the Earth's spin, the position of the Earth on its elliptical path changes, relative to the time of year. This phenomenon is called the precession of equinoxes. The cycle of equinox precession takes 23,000 years to complete. In the growth of continental ice sheets, summer temperatures are probably more important than winter.
How does the ice build up?
Throughout the Quaternary period, high latitude winters have been cold enough to allow snow to accumulate. It is when the summers are cold, (i.e., summers that occur when the sun is at its farthest point in Earth's orbit), that the snows of previous winters do not melt completely. When this process continues for centuries, ice sheets begin to form. Finally, the shape of Earth's orbit also changes. At one extreme, the orbit is more circular, so that each season receives about the same amount of insolation. At the other extreme, the orbital ellipse is stretched longer, exaggerating the differences between seasons. The eccentricity of Earth's orbit also proceeds through a long cycle, which takes 100,000 years. Major glacial events in the Quaternary have coincided when the phases of axial tilt, precession of equinoxes and eccentricity of orbit are all lined up to give the northern hemisphere the least amount of summer insolation.
What makes the ice melt when the glaciation is over?
Major interglacial periods have occurred when the three factors line up to give the northern hemisphere the greatest amount of summer insolation. The last major convergence of factors giving us maximum summer warmth occurred 11,000 years ago, at the transition between the last glaciation and the current interglacial, the Holocene. During the late Pleistocene, the Rocky Mountain regions of Canada and the regions farther west were almost engulfed in the Cordilleran Ice Sheet, while most of Canada east of the Rockies and the north-central and northeastern United States were covered by the Laurentide Ice Sheet. The divide between the two ice sheets lay east of the Rockies, with the two ice bodies meeting near the U.S.-Canadian border in eastern Montana. The Laurentide ice sheet is thought to have been as much as two miles thick at the center.

I'm from the uk so no.
I'm not part of any group. The reason there's a problem is because if our way of life. No amount of protesting is going to change anything while we keep spending, its borderline hypocritical.
The meat industry is also one of, if not THE most toxic and polluting industry going as well. We don't even need as much meat as we eat and there's no ice age coming, our bodies crave fat still when its not really needed. As intelligent beings, we should really be switching to fruit and veg and eating insects.
Might sound crazy but it's not.
Just like third world countries, they are in that mess because of our system and their governments buying into it. Watermelon s come from the Kalahari desert, I doubt they even grow there now.
Our way of life is the problem and so long as we keep spending, it won't stop.
I have switched to a vegetarian diet.
I recycle everything
Iv also quit smoking, ish, I keep having a smoke every few days.
That's action, not waving a WOODEN board about and whining to the government. That's like an alcoholic standing out the front of a wine merchants drinking a bottle of booze and protesting about how bad it is and then going home to drink some more lol.
Sorry, not trying to pidgeon hole you, I just think protesters are all talk and no walk.

It was suggested reading
I sign my petitions and ballots and vote with my dollars. I source my food locally, try my best to at least, got myself a garden & chickens and solar panel. Recycle everything yup.
I'm looking into plugging into a windfarm....or buying a turbine. But money problems....
Also I agree on the protein sourcing. While I still eat meat....mostly poultry, I agree that we need to convert to insect protein. Most efficient form, and least polluting. Feed to Mass ratio is far higher on insects, followed by fish but dear god we've raped our oceans. I admit my protein is sourced badly and it's something I'd like to work towards.....but insects are just not large enough on the market yet to get in bulk, so I eat my crickets......
Here's some suggested reading on cricket flour: http://www.epicurious.com/articlesguides/blogs/editor/2014/04/cricket-flour-baking-mixes.html
I am also a hydroponic gardener while it does consume electricity it conserves on water and optimizes yield.
Lastly sierra club is basically a newsfeed and petition feed onto problems concerning environment and the ecosystem. Petitions are action. Protest is not.
I meant no harm by my comment, merely thought you'd like to read stuff like it and similar too. Knowing is half the battle... Sorry if I came off as a ****

Probably about as much as it took to make the machine you are using.
One of the best things you could do for your health and the environment is turn vegetarian. There's literally no need to eat meat.
Our task must be to free ourselves . . . by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature and its beauty." "Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances of survival for life on earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet." Albert Einstein, physicist, Nobel Prize 1921
This cuts out about 5 cars worth of carbon emissions alone. The whole process in the meat industry is more toxic than coal fired power stations.

Yeah that's great.
Its the actual mass production that's bad on every level and unfortunatley, we are few.
Its fking hard being vegetarian because our bodies crave fat as our bodies are expecting a long winter that's never going to come. That's the hardest bit because I have yet to find fat that isn't in meat but I'm not wasting away.
That's why herbivores eat an absolute fk ton because there's not much storable energy in what they eat. Its kind of sucks either way lol.
Our intelligence surpasses our bodies and its really annoying.
Nah no worries, we are all human (simultaneously dumb as fk and the most intelligent beings we have encountered).

Its advised that we should only eatv1 or two bits of meat a week, fk correcting the first part of this sentence.
Red meat is good for iron/the immune system but because we are still not actually adapted to digesting it, it rots in our bowel and can cause bowel cancer.
White meat is your low fat (generally) and high in protein meat.
Fish is the don hands down but too much red can give mercury poisoning. Sadly we have ragged the oceans so much in both farming and destruction that we should be cutting fish out of our diets for about 30 years for it to recover.
Anyway this subject is wedge and I could go on forever about it lol.
But yeah, fat is lazy and unhealthy energy that our bodies aren't weened off yet. The next stage of evolution is with our mind and literally thinking mind over matter because our bodies are not genetically up to speed and never will be, we literally have to change it ourselves.

Eat 1 piece of red meat, 1 piece of white fish and one piece of chicken per week. I'm not 100% sure how but most people eat so much meat that they are borderline guaranteed cancer as most meat has growth hormones in nowadays. There's going to be a cancer epidemic soon once these younger generations get to about 45 - 50, well actually loads of problems.
Were already seeing increased diabetes and other genetic diseases because the crap people eat is literally messing people up and their offspring.
Recycling is great.
Switching off unused plugs is great.
Getting a hybrid eco car is great and 60 miles per gallon.
Switching to solar panels for electricity is great.
Buying less plastic items is great.
Taking omega 3 fatty oil tablets will clean out your arteries as well on a side note.
But seriously though, charity, protesting and blah blah blah is all simply just treating a symptom. Our very way of life needs to change and if we all did these alone then the world would be much better off.
We need to stop this snivelling pathetic 'first world problems' bullshit. When you come face to face with the fallout from our system, just having running drinking water alone will make you feel blessed.
The third world has a great opportunity to build toward change but their governments buy into our bullsht, that's the only reason they are poor. That and the fact that we buy them out for cheap labour. They are not so heavily stuck the way we are but they are drinking the kool aid and wandering why they are poor, its ridiculous.
Our system is literally psychotic and its breeding psychos as well.
