The bulk of that game is running around shooting AI, which frankly sucks. And from reviews I've seen and read, the PVP is bland. Maybe it will get better, who knows.
I'm gonna put Destiny into the category of "Games that will kill Dust" right along side GTA V, Assassin's Creed, Titan Fall, BF4, COD Ghosts, Dark Souls II and Watch Dogs.
We all know these games didn't kill Dust and neither will Destiny. Only CCP can kill Dust.
it's actually very good.... I mean it's a beta and there are lots of restrictions, but it already has more content than dust, and the pvp is a lot of fun.
granted destiny isn't what dust could have been... but neither is dust...
and you are right no game can kill dust.... ccp already did that with the rouge wedding (long live legion?)
also I don't know if you knew this but destiny also has a 10 year plan, they plan to continue to add to the story and scope.
all in all I have only played destiny for about 10 hours, and because its a beta and there are a lot of restrictions I am running out of new things to do, but the stuff it has already holds my attention...
I never got down with the destiny hype, I never get down with any hype anymore, so I am in no way let down by what destiny has to offer, I'm also not comparing it to dust in the sense of game play, however, I will say ccp is just BS about the ps3 power and need to go to PC, bungie is proving how much the ps3 still has to offer... destiny is by far the smoothest beta I have ever played.

nope I have a rocket launcher on my warlock. this is one of the real drawbacks imo... there isn't much distinction between classes, at low level at least... pretty much everyone can use the same weapons, not armor though.

also not true... every calss has a heavy weapon and a super charged power that can one shot vehicles. and you can shoot people off them.
