First of all, hotfix Alpha and Bravo were great... overdue, but great nonetheless.
I'm curious though, CCP is shying away from updating the game client, instead choosing to focus on server-side changes. Does this mean we won't ever see new weapons, dropsuits, vehicles, modules, etc.?

Basically, some content like textures requires a recook of assets, which leads to everyone needing to download the whole client again, sometimes partially but sometimes the whole X GB the client is.
We can do it, but there are many things I would like to tweak/fix before we bother the playerbase with a full client re-download.
If the content gets created, by either the DUST 514 or Legion team, we can push it out.
Yeah, the cost for CCP of doing a clientside update isn't relevant at all.... I'm pretty sure the entire (LOL) Dust playerbase is more than willing to downlad the entire game over and over again if that means they'll get more content. Rattati, I thought you where special No the cost isn't relevant at all...

I see. Well that vaguely hints that they might one day give us 1.9, but only after many hotfixes.

It could also signal that CCP finally realizes that Dust could have been more popular had the game been finely tuned instead of constantly focusing on trying to radically change the game constantly. Fix what's broken, THEN worry about trying to do new things.

Wont happend cause CCP doesnt want to spend any money for verifying patches by Sony. Which basically means there will no new content ever again for Dust. Its more likely that youll see flying pigs then a client update. |

I don't think it costs CCP that much money to submit patches to Sony for verification and release. I think that it is enough to where they wouldn't want to do it for every minor content update though.

The highest chance of new content, I believe, is after some more more hotfixes, when enough suggested client side changes have piled up to warrant one fix heavy patch. Then, if the legion team happens to have created new assets at that point that are missing in Dust, they can piggy back them into said patch with very little additional man-hours invested.
It seems to me CCP is just not planning on creating new content specifically for Dust anymore so my hope is that the creative teams working on Legion are doing their best to prioritize things that could be re-cycled instead.

When do you learn it? Developers/Publishers are allways lying to their costumers. Prime example for CCP is that there was a DUST514 KEYNOTE listed for the fanfest. What we got is a presentation about that they stop working on dust514 (content wise) and started project legion. Then a presentation of some fancy things happend which is all legion based and 0% dust related.
Its not just CCP trying to tell a lie other publishers/devlopers are doing it too. Remember the fiasco with "Aliens: Colonial marines"? It looked promising and alot of pre orders happend and then the costumers have recieved a pig pile of crap. Or EA bringing out Battlefield:Hardline which is just a cops and robbers mod from BF4. Or COD which are each just map expansions all over. My credo:

Don't get me wrong, you are free to do so and CCP have done their fair share of facilitating this notion. But further discussion cannot lead anywhere under such a presupposition.

Realistically "1.9" if anything is going to to only fix the less technical bugs and make hotfixing easier if one is to be made. I would not put my hopes on any new content whatsoever.

Yeeeeah... that's called Legion... when the go ahead is confirmed although I doubt it will be now.

Why though?. Content is Money in a F2P business model.
Paying Sony money to then update everyones playstation.. And Not have something that your bringing to market? It makes no sense.
GTA online has generated over 300 million dollars in revenues with Shark cards delivering non stop free DLC.
Why would you spend 100+ hours of developer time on heavy weapon variants and not bring them to DUST and get paid back your development costs for them with the added benefit of getting basic operational tests and balance for Legion.
Why would you not want to run performance and balance tests on stripped down versions of Legion maps right now?
It seems crazy to nearly anyone in the industry when you sit down and explain the DUST 514 situation. They sit there with a big confused look on their face and repeat "WTF?!" over and over..
This product represents everyone of the people working at CCP Shanghai, it is their reputation and what they have to show for over 5 years operation and work. They can't be just happy with it... If this was your job in anything, Cake making even, would they just leave it half finished like this? Would they spend some extra hours producing something that would improve it?
Even the ability to inspire consumer confidence before the summer break which is always a revenue booster for CCP, they didn't even make a statement about anything.
When this is how CCP Rouge opens his Keynote speech. "Comunity, Community Community" now that fanfest is over we have been completely ignored by him. Where are players wrong to assume CCP Shanghai isn't just out to lie to them? |

No, that answer allows you keep your hopes up without explicitly stating that it won't happen.

This was made quite clear at Fanfest, to all but the most blind of fans. Thank you for being plain about it.
If not for the relentless optimism of the player base this game would have folded right after Uprising was released.
