Discussed this idea with some of the other candidates and it was fairly well received, decided to bring this to the rest of the community to hear some input.

While the daily SP bonus is fine on it's own, I think there are some ways we can change it up to address some pressure points.

The current system requires you to log-on to your character to receive the additional SP. This does not give incentive to playing the game, just logging in to collect your little bonus. It's a Skinner's box, if anything.
If you -don't- log in, the effects are rather punishing in that it resets your progress back to zero. A loss of 10,500 SP a week.
So while the effects aren't exactly enormous, it is rather irritating to have to raise your chain back up.

 The proposal:

Change the daily log-in to only give the reward after completion of a single match per day. If a match isn't completed, the progress drops down a level instead of resetting to the beginning. This gives incentive for people to actually play the game and may encourage them to play -more- as they're already sitting down with the controller in their hands. If they don't, it's not so big a deal as they just don't get the 500 extra SP they would have if they did.

 Discuss.

So essentially you're upping the requirement by making players play at least 1 match, but lowering the penalty to the loss of 1 level instead of all levels if you fail to play your match for the day.

Pretty solid idea, I'm always up for encouraging players to play more, but not killing their entire bonus if life happens to get in the way for a day.

I'm in favor. I admit to days where I never get into a match because I have other things going on, and hey, i got my bonus. Really shouldn't be rewarding that. And it's not like an ambush match takes very long, it's more than justifiable to actually ask people to play a wee bit for their SP.

I talked about this in General a couple of weeks ago, and it basically came down to this.

There is a SP multiplier that increases in increments of .50 and caps at 6. The SP multiplier only affects SP gained from time in battle rather than WP from battle(closes disparity between vets and noobs). The SP Multiplier only affects your first completed match

 So basically:

 1st day- 3.0 SP Multiplier
 2nd- 3.5
 3rd- 4.0
 etc

I don't think it's much to ask to have someone play a 10-minute Ambush match as opposed to starting up the PS3 and spending two minutes logging in but I understand fully where you're coming from.

You would lose your progress under the current system as well, unless you have some means to log into your account and get the bonus without using a PS3?

Does that actually count as 267 days of being 'active'

 ^This

There are times when I simply can't get on that day, but when I can get on I actually play.
The ability to not lose the whole bonus because I have to work late or whatever on a given day would be nice.

That being said I am, as ever, open to other input about the concept.

Someone logging in and AFKing harms the match by putting them down one player.

The first effects no one, the second lowers the quality of gameplay.

Since it's abundantly clear that CCP has no idea how to address AFKing, and given the state of things, will not do so anytime soon, changing this mechanic is pretty much just pointless.

I honestly don't see this changing much... if we have to force people who don't really want to play just to get 6k sp... the issue should be more focused on why we need to force people to play to begin with.

furthermore I see this just making the most obstinate of us rubber band afking a match to get their paltry reward....
