They're simply the most common scout by far.
Hit detection tends to be screwy in DUST, regardless of suit, however the speed of scouts increases that amount of problems it has. Gallente scouts have recently been nerfed, and this turned Caldari scouts into the go to combat scout suit (before it was an even split).
Since Caldari scouts are more common, the chances of you encountering hit detection issues with one are higher.
We don't remember when hit detection works right because we expect it to work right, but when it doesn't and it gets us killed, we remember it more, thinking it's more common than it actually is. And since Caldari scouts have a higher chance of being that screwy hit detection suit than any other scout, we remember a lot of bad moments with Caldari scouts, which gives us a false impression that it's that specific suit.
Thank you Aeon Amadi for your hit detection video, allowing me to see past the "It's the suit" and to think of another possibility.

The Gallente scout is still better if you use it right. Kin cat, range mod, armor plate, dampener, and 2 complex shields. Use it as an assassin to kill the cal scouts.

I think the real problem with the Caldari Scout is that they can exceed 300 eHP.
Then again, that's a problem with nearly all Scouts.

Then again, that's a problem with nearly all Scouts. I agree with that, however I wanted to understand the reason that Caldari scouts are reported to have bad hit detection.
This is my theory.

That would make the most sense considering how CCP Rattati confirmed that the hitboxes of the Caldari Scout is the exact same as the others.
On a less related note, I wonder if Hit-Detection improvements would be possible server side.

So what you're saying is we're all prone to bias and should be more careful when inferring causal relationships from our own subjective experiences and anecdotes?
That's like saying my brain is actually bad at objectively evaluating data. What a load of bullsh- oh wait.

Then again, that's a problem with nearly all Scouts. I dont think it's the cal suit you have to worry about tanking with how demanding shield mods are,you see plenty of gal scouts doing that with over 600EHP with like 400armor and still having Ewar capabilities.
edit:I concur
A Strange Game.

Mathematically, you can evade the cal scout with 3 complex dampeners on a gal scout with level 5 and a proto cloak. Even with a 4 complex precision cal scout. That's around 110% dampening for the gal and 105% for the cal. Of course those numbers are wrong, but it just shows the difference of course, leaving the gal scout an extra slot for whatever.

Here's the thing. Caldari get free 50hp/s on their shields, and extremely low delays, while Gallente has 3hp/s on the armor (lol).
So basically, whatever HP you put on? It's going to be worth less than the Caldari HP, because it is restored painfully slow.
In addition, that Caldari can see EVERYTHING around it within a good radius, including most scouts, not so much with the Gallente scout. Scanning is much more powerful than dampening.

Yep. I miss when the tradeoff for my superior maneuverability and versatility was being paper-thin. It lowered the skill ceiling for scouting harshly and made scouts the best combat suit in the game. |

I was going to say, on the odd occasion I break out the Gk.0 I run triple damps if there are Caldari scouts or Gall logis. It leaves you with so little to play with though as a Gallente....

I am pretty sure Cat was referring to the lack of Dampener stacking on that guys build....
