Snipers are op in this game, they can simply recline in the redline at 300 m away and 2 shot suits while wearing sentinels that can't be killed easily. They are not only hard to find but also impossible to kill for any one with a different weapon.
The sniper should be forced to fight outside the redline, taking advantage of map territory so that he/she has an advantage of range over other players but can be discovered and once an assault is within attack range the sniper is vulnerable. This would maintain the fairness of these engagements without letting snipers get over 2500 weekly kills with ridiculous Kd/Rs like 250

If their a heavy with a sniper rifle then its not a sniper,no real sniper uses that suit. Also no they are not op,one a sniper should be able to kill any but a heavy from under 3 shots.snipers are not op,in other games that rifle can kill you in one shot, but here sometimes its 2-4 shots.no you are just an idiot for being in the open and in a sniper view. |

I've been killed by a sniper rifle like 3 times since 1.8, and I havn't even bothered making a sniper fit (I have proficiency 3 or so, lots of sp invested in sniper rifles). They are absolutely 100% not OP, they are weak as ****.
Idiots sitting in the redline sniping in a sentinel suit are doing absolutely nothing to help their team, the only people they can kill are the useless idiots standing still and ignoring the fact that they are getting shot.
Redline sniping was a problem for a long time, but it has been fixed by the fact that sniper rifles have been completely nerf'd to ****. |

not naming names but my friend went over 2500 kills with a 200 k/d ... that's not weak.
And i always get 2 shot by kaalkiotas
the problem is that they have no weakness against assault and other medium/light suits

All in all, while snipers (redline or otherwise) are incredibly annoying, they're FAR from overpowered. |

There used to be structures within the burnzone that snipers could shoot from, but whiners like you got those spots removed. You all made your bed, now you have to sleep in it. |

I have level 5 Caldari Commando for a 10% boost to sniper rifle damage.
I run a Commando cko with 3 complex damage mods for ~14% more damage.
I use a Thale's sniper rifle, which is the most damaging sniper in the game at 355 damage.
This setup, which is the maximum possible damage a sniper rifle can do, is survivable by any of the starter antiarmor fits with a body shot.
And you think they're op?
Rattati has spoken. CalScout hitbox is fine. You're gun game is broken.

You've got this backwards.
Headshot multipliers should be increased across all SR variants. Makes counter-sniping and clearing rooftops more practical. Rewards skill.

Wanna dodge snipers and not get killed? Im a noob and i will say what i do Got shot the 1st time? Check on the redline location, then know where to hide Use your active scanner, or use it after you keep turning till the redline is on top of the screen, and keep running straight to wilderness You can spot the sniper and kill him and destroy the spawning equipement he put in his location. Of course if he didn't kill you first while chasing him
Tips: don't follow the redline straight to the sniper, try using an alt way to get close so the sbiper won't focus on you. Move sideways, that will make sniping you a bit harder especially when far.
Hope this helps. |

Snipers arent't by very definition OP as they cannot be the unbeatable trump card in every/most situations. They are just very good at what they do.
In top of that, they are also very very very easy to use. Sniping mechanic hardly resembles shooting of any kind. The sway mechanic frankly said stupid preschool quality: just big initial sway and then presto perfectly stable, and only minimal kick after shot after which aim returns spot on where it was...

This is simply not accurate. If you are careless enough to stand still in the open I will happily line up a head-shot and terminate your assault clone with one shot from 500 m. Of course, this is only with my Thales or Charged SR. Any other sniper rifle and it will probably require a follow-up body shot... assuming you are moving after getting hit the first time.
However:
- I can not shoot you through cover.
- I can not shoot you if you are behind anything with a large hit-box (any installation) even if I can see and aim at part of you. Most people forget that their feet are valid targets behind trucks or other cover not actually on the ground.
- I can not line up that nice head-shot if you are moving even a little. It becomes a guessing game for me at that point.
- I can not 2 shot an assault suit with sufficient eHP with body shots. At least one of those has to be a headshot.
- At extreme ranges I can barely make out where your head even is in my scope due to relatively low zoom. I have to rely on my targeting intel displaying the head-shot bonus damage.
- The controller is very twitchy when trying to line up that head shot at extreme range. It often takes me a few seconds just to get my crosshairs on target because even a tiny movement of the stick will take my crosshair completely off of my target.
- I do not use sent suits for sniping, but I have been red-line killed by assault drop ships, orbital strikes, murder taxi (heavy with HMG coming to me in LAV which does not show up on my passive radar unless I can see him on-screen, shredding me, then fleeing in LAV back to hot zone), rail rifle users that are near the red-line, HAVs with rail guns, rail gun installations, and missile installations. I, of course, prefer to counter-snipe enemy red-liners.
- Even most of those sent suits will reflexively duck down behind cover if you send a few bullets their way, especially if you hit them for any damage at all. This allows you to get to safety since they can not shoot you while hiding behind cover themselves. You just have to hustle and stay aware
- During the frequent times that I snipe within the hot zone I am extremely vulnerable. I am sitting still, crouched, with my back exposed and using a weapon with a very loud, distinctive sound. No other role in the game is put into such a vulnerable position while fulfilling their basic purpose. Put that together with the fact that anyone with a basic shotgun can kill the heaviest fit in the game with 3 shots and you have a dead hot-zone sniper no matter what suit they are in.
- It is not necessarily the sniper rifle itself that is so dangerous to you. When I do hot-zone snipe I frequently get more kills with my SMG than my sniper rifle... is the SMG OP also?
- Lastly, you have to consider the skills of the players involved. There are a lot of people that I just CAN NOT kill with any sniper rifle because they make it so darned hard for me by moving, using cover, being aware of which directly my first shot hit them from, etc. I just end up looking for some fool standing still on that hill over there. *BANG* Headshot.
