1) Increase the lock on "target" (this should be for all repair tools), at the moment if you slide over your intended target to quickly it doesn't register, and by to quickly I mean 1/10 th rotation speed. In the heat of the moment twitches happen, causing an unneeded death of a reppee.
2) For 2 target rep tools. Please change it to beam/target 1 is R1 and beam/target 2 is L1. You should not have to unlock from both targets just to unlock from an accidental lock and/or someone that you are done repping(heat of battle conditions and all require your main target to be constantly repped while switching between other targets.).
However I think that change two is something that is direly needed.

Not really upset/noticed #1. I usually use core focused, so I'm at about 10m away at all times. Rarely dump, but when I do, it can, on rare occasions, take forever to get back on. I always knew it was because my target had people jump in between us (sometimes on purpose, to troll I assume). |

I need to test the delay that happens after you let go of the button (the cause of the sprint/quicksand bug)
But having each beam attributed to a different button is a new idea to me. I'll mention this to Cross if he doesn't see this thread.

these are good ideas... being a logi myself it is annoying having to relock on my intended target after a bad lock... |

With these in place, a delayed toggle mode function would be a further QoL improvement. i.e. after around one to two seconds of stable lock-on the tool no longer stops on releasing the button but on the next press instead.
That way logis don't have to keep the button/s depressed all the time and switching targets will be much more fluid. This would even allow for seamless target switching unless the delay is an intended mechanic.

I was never really talking about a delay, which is about 1.5 seconds before hitting trigger again will let you relock, the reason that happens is that the animation of lowering the repair tool has to register/finish, its a bug and/or just hasn't been optimized. However, what I was talking about was just the logi equivalent of having to not just get a headshot but having to hit the cornea for it to lock, I.E. the target to hit for locking on is just to small and could use a bit of an increase.

Nope, as far as I know that's all me, but if someone else did post that then, someone get that man a damn medal.

I agree so much, words cannot describe how much I want the repair to be toggle instead of hold to fire. If it was toggle I wouldn't have needed to request the whole L1 R1 because it would be, shoot to lock on to target one, shoot to lock on to target two, then shoot target one to unlock or instead shoot target three to unlock from target one and then lock on to target three. Then all you have to do is pay attention to who you lock first.
If you could marry these ideas though(L1 and R1 + toggle), I would be in repair tool nirvana (not the band). Then the only thing I would have to ask for is a reticule indicator update, to tell you if L1 or R1 is active, instead of some text in the top left of the screen telling you that you have lost a target.

I don't like your second suggestion, because I use a praetorian controls, and your suggestion only applies to the default controls.
If this game was fun, I wouldn't be playing it.

id like it if rep tools were a Toggle so press once to hold the rep till they get out of LOS, i find holding the R1 over longer periods to cause some discomfort

I was only using L1 & R1as an example(the one I was most familiar withsince that is what I use) I am unfamiliar with the preatorian controls so I would assume they would change the controls of all controller setups so they would have(for repair tools) an equivalent of the"L1 R1" we have been discussing.

He'd be using R3 for the second beam it seems so I can see his point.
With that said. Changing the tool to toggle or delayed toggle mode as I proposed (or allowing us to select either) would fix or at least alleviate such problems.

Mapping to a button can, as we have seen, can cause problems with other control schemes, so I think just a secondary button to use as just a straight up toggle would be the best option, basically whatever button sets off REs for that scheme would be the toggle.
Might also be something that could improve single channel tools too, when in a crowd or near an installation.

Perhaps having praetorian with only toggle and the rest of them with the L1 R1 + toggle. The toggle well still be a huge step up for praetorian users(and everyone else) , and others, since their setup permits it can have both (L1 R1 +toggle).
