Yes, I *do* see DUST being around in 2015. While I will follow to Legion as well, I want to see PS3 players represented and addressed for as long as they continue to sign into the game and play.
I'd like to be your CPM1 candidate

When it will die exactly we can't really say for sure at this point, but some people will leave when Legion is playable/released, others will leave for the PS4 and other games there. The remaining players will be so few that it will be even harder to find games etc and the AUR purchases from these remaining players will likely be of a low enough amount for CCP to have no reason to keep DUST running.

Speculations aside, one thing is sure for those who resolves to abstain from voting is that they can't come back later saying: "oh noes! They've elected X Candidate(s). Democracy sucks!"

A lot of people have discussed Legion as probably being roughly 18 months away. That means throughout 2015, at least. I think CCP Rattati's fixes have done more in two months with no patches than CCP has done in two years to make this game fun. It is more fun than it has ever been, right now. And the reality is: Content patches aren't actually out of the question for the future.

What I don't get though is people who care enough to post on the forums that they do not care at all.
Trolls?! Confused Butthurts?!
Both would normally delight in messing with the election's results...
Displeased Community Members would benefit from using the Election Vote Match tool by finding Candidate(s) more in-line with their views.
Vote Abstention won't bring anything new anyway.

Not unlikely, but I think we will get at least something playable before that. But yes, we don't know exactly when, so DUST might be able to limp all the way through 2015 if Legion isn't out/playable before that.

Soraya Xel wrote:And the reality is: Content patches aren't actually out of the question for the future. Of course they won't say content patches are out of the question (even if they knew they were). For all we know Legion can still be redlit and development diverted back onto DUST entirely.
In the current situation they need DUST running, so they'll do everything possible (with the skeleton crew they're using for this). That includes saying "maybe" to future content patches.

From everything I've gathered, if Legion does not get the green light, DUST will be cancelled.

Right, I haven't been in the loop lately so you're probably right. Anything else would also be weird considering all their "DUST is a bad game, Legion will be a good game" messages since Fanfest.

Fair enough. But your post has a slight distinct flavoring of a PR speech.
What more can the CPMs do for the PS3 players that these forums aren't already doing? If I understand it correctly, the only thing that's coming is balancing. In which CCP Rattati has been on the forums changing the game according to the consensus of the forums.
And judging from the playerbase now, this game is going to be even worse come 2015 as far as activity. We need hardcore and noob players involved. It's a catch 22. Noob players and FF has pushed the hardcore players to leave. Both noob and hardcore is needed for a game to continue. |
