I don't know about most you fellas but I'm still kinda fed up with this whole redline sniping/redline rail tanking business.
You've all seen, many have even participated it, but basically whenever it looks like your having a hard run, all the 'pro's' will suddenly disappear into the redline and make lead rain from 2 miles out.
Now normally I have no problem with this, the person has found an advantageous posistion, and has made the most of it. But I shouldn't have to explain how annoying/skilless/scrubby, whatever word you feel like using, a tactic it is when this said sniper is 300m in there own redline glitching through the terrain.
I wouldn't have a problem if these were all seperate. We need to move the redlines back, by a sizeable amount, especially on domination matches.
It's becoming a plague

1. Just move the redline way behind the MCC. 2. Place multiple unhackable installations at the ground spawn. 3. Make unhackable installations have the same HP as the MCC. 4. Make unhackable / indestructible installations ultra aggressive within 50 meters.
This is all doable server side.
Redline snipers no longer have a safety net and proto stompers can not go within 100 meters of the ground spawn thanks to being scared of getting 1 shot in their expensive suits.

Yes or push it back, but if you are going to do that you have to give snipers better cover or positions to use their trade.

I have seen too many ideas about how to fix the redline. Many of them are too complicated.
The best idea I've seen would be to not to reward any war points or kills to anyone inside their own red line. This way if a sniper/tanker wants to pad his stats he has to be outside of the redline to do it.
This is a simple fix because nothing with the maps or game mechanics has to change, just some coding changes about how the red line works.
Gun control is not about guns...it's about control.

All the maps and sockets have to be completely redone and made functional spaces for a FPS game.
The maps in DUST in every aspect are the worst feature of the game.
The concept is awesome, the implementation is horrific.
Counter-strike has battle tested maps that have been played for 15 years... And are still played all day non stop with more active numbers then even EVE online with next to nothing added.

Dust battle tested their maps for over a year and has changed next to nothing about them other then fixing the invisible walls they put there.. And installing some new ones.
No Ladders.. no elevators... barely any internal building structures.. No flow... Roads dead end out of no where.. Ladders lead to places completely pointless to the map.. Sides start clearly closer to objectives.. spawn on top of high ground advantage overlooking objectives...I could go on for a long time...
Everything u see in DUST maps make you cringe in shame.
I have to agree that maps really are the most lacking thing in Dust.

I dont know about anyone else, but i dislike spawning on the ground in the redline and getting killed by a tank before i receive picture, although i dont mind when its me in the tank. If the redline sniper is pissing you off so much, just counter snipe. Every role has a different play style, everyone plays their role differently. Let these weak players play how they want to.
If the redline is moved back you will have players trying to get to the spawns to kill who ever is spawning there. |

Their is already plenty of sniper spots available in the playable area of the maps, the problem is that few snipers have the kahunas to use them.

Sure go for it move the red line back, if it's handled this way then snipers have no excuses in my humble opinion, if your using the areas within the red to snipe for safety then you are abusing a game mechanic and should be stopped, if you only do it to make use of far superior positions then at least this way the positions will finally be a valid tactic.
(if you actually believe these good folks, personally I think they'd still have a problem with long distance snipers and the red line has just become their reflex cry out against them...but I could be wrong.)
as for the better idea of no damage into or out of the red line, I prefer the idea but only after more high points, vantages, cover positions, etc get added.
they need adding anyway but this would not be good before hand. |

1.) Remove the redline.
2.) Push the default spawn points WAY the F back.
3.) Increase the number of default spawn points (6-9 as opposed to 2-3).
4.) Spread the new spawn points out.
5.) Drastically increase transport assists.
6.) ???
7.) Profit

The faction who is sponsoring the battle create a redline that means nobody should be out there. The logic should be eliminate the deserter from the battlefield for walking in restricted area.
But if everyone is kicked...who will left for win the match?. **** it, i screw myself.

My absolute final participation in the forums. Still waiting on a reply to my bug post. Grrr.
I say, increase the time someone can be in the red to 45 seconds or a full minute. That's PLENTY of time to get in there with anything you want and take out whatever it is you want to take out. If they can't evade you for 45 seconds then that's there fault.
I have to agree with you. I used to feel that it wasn't that big of a deal but toward some point during 1.7 it started picking up a bit. Then 1.8 happened and now it is RAMPANT.
I think that 45 seconds is enough. I want to be aggressive and say a full minute.
I basically believe I should be able to sit in a LAV or a Drop ship and jump out, kill someone or take out a tank (i.e. forge) or whatever and get out before dying.
This can be done on the server side for a fact. Everything else everyone else is suggesting is client side.

Yes reduce the red line, but add more installations and give them like 10k hitpoints or more and make sure they are decent shots so they can fend off infantry and vehicles.

This doesn't solve anything, 1) They won't care 2) Even if they do care, they will not venture further than 10m from the redline
As Eko Sol has suggested we need more time to chase the yellowberry (huehuehue) into is his own line. Or they need to be pushed further back such that a persons redline is far from the active war zone.
