The title says it all. This includes all suits that are in the heavy frame catergory. That means Sentinels, Commandos and the basic Heavy Frame. There are some issues with these kinds of suits being able to drive vehicles. here they are:
1) A heavy can be a formidable opponent both in and out their vehicle. all a heavy frame has to do is jump out of their vehicle right next to an AV player and mow them down with their Heavy Machine Gun.
2) Vehicles increase mobility. an LAV can get a heavy from one end of the battlefield to the other extremely fast. while this does not seem like a problem, look at problem one. i cannot even count the amount of times i have been killed by a heavy who just drives their LAV up to me, jumps out, fills my body that is occasionally wearing an expensive prototype suit with lead, and drives away. Heavy frames are supposed to be point defenders. not hit-and-runners. Even if i do manage to almost kill a sentinel/heavy frame when they jump out of their LAV, they just jump back in and drive away once their hp hits double-digits, making them impossible to kill. ruining the risk vs reward element of the game.
3) Their suits provide defense from getting shot out of vehicles (this is why i included commandos in the equation). this makes it so that they can camp in a LAV turret or fly in a dropship turret. in an LAV, if they hit low HP, they just swap seats and drive off. in a dropship, they are moving around so much that the few shots you may land on them will only scratch up shields, and thus, be recovered quickly.
doing this would not only stop heavy suits from doing what i mentioned above, but it would also help make sure that heavy suits do what they are meant to do: guard areas of the map. or flank enemy troops with the rest of the other troops on foot (yes, i mean you minmatar sentinels)

Unfortunately new things like the exit animation are a long way off, if they are possible at all.

General12912, go play Manis Peak Domination in a Sentinel suit a few times. Make the sentinel suit, and play it every time Manis Peak Domination comes up in the rotation. Use only Heavy weapons. Then post your results here, and tell us if you still think that Heavy Suits should not be able to drive.
I could make a fancy argument, but until you experience it for your self you will likely think I am full of it.

I hate this scrub "stop & pop" tactic as much as the next guy. Even tankers will do this, not just LAV drivers.
However, when I run Commando I can swarm them from afar. If they stop close by, I back peddle and can sometimes kill them with my combat rifle. If they stop right on top of me, I'm dead. You better believe when this happens, I spawn back in and Swarm them and their LAV to death. It's actually easier to kill a heavy in a vehicle with my (proto) swarms then it is from me to take them on with my combat rifle when they are on foot.
So even though I hate the stop & pop tactic, I can deal with it. This would not be a high priority "fix" for me.

*sigh* such crude solutions to problems only lead to game design that is both bad and illogical.
So you want to remove a heavy's ability to pop out, kill you, get back into a LAV and drive off? Ok, that's reasonable.
So you're going to remove their ability to move large distances completely by preventing them from using vehicles? Now you've lost your squad dynamic of transporting groups of players that support each other. Bad game design.
Ok so just make it so they can't drive? So they can sit in a passenger seat but holding a steering wheel is beyond them? Illogical game design.
Or you just make it so it takes more time to get in and out of vehicles. This removes their ability to 'pop' in and out, and makes exiting a vehicle a tactical choice, rather than an meaningless one. It also doesn't completely gimp movement in ways that simply don't make sense.
Like my ideas?
