Both features have a high practical utility and add to the gameplay experience considerably.
They are also both fantastic self-learning tools: with these features players struggling with wrapping their heads around the skills/fitting systems in Legion will learn a lot in the market window via direct hands-on interaction. That's worth hours of interactive tutorial right there.

Changing platform won't affect the source of the current latencies we experience in DUST when trying to load team/match lists or contact lists etc.
What is the cause of menu lag in DUST anyway and how will Legion resolve it?

We speculated a lot on the DUST forums but to my knowledge CCP never naild down exactly what was going on with physical items and consciousness transfer.
For my money the only thing that makes any sense at all is point-of-use nanomanufacturing.
