Yeah, I get it if you're really good with it then in pubs you can destroy terrible players, but in PC, they will scan you unless you're a heavily dampened gal scout with no tank, meaning if you do flank someone, they have an equal chance of beating you (or a slightly higher chance of winning if they are brick tanked). Lots of shotgun scout fail to kill be because I know how to backpeddle. Sure, if they get a good flank then I'm as good as dead, but it's a CQC weapon so I'm not complaining. It is currently under-preforming compared to rifles, so what's the hype?

It is currently under-preforming compared to rifles, so what's the hype? You really did answer your own question and, pre~hotfixes, you basically could build a scout to be essentially invisible. Saying that, it's not a bad idea to still use it; a lot of players do find it beneficial to use multiple weapons to get a basic idea of how to defend from it. Probably the most underrated skill is counter-sniping especially against a Thale. If your not an elite sniper then trying that out also gives you a good visual on how to avoid it when on the ground as a regular grunt troop. Shotguns are a nice edge if your trying to master the art of up close combat and stealth. Sure you can backpedal but that's part of the learning curve; not everyone does it. Right when a high alpha damage weapon hits me, I immediately strafe/jump/backpeddle the opposite direction they are in (lots of variable included like how my squad is positioned to determine the most likely place the shotgunner is) and spin around and shoot him in the face. Tac ARs FTW!!!

Jotun Izalaru wrote:I love my shotgun, especially in PC. Where I find it falters is actually in solo play where I can't count on my team to actually contribute and give me a way to flank from.
Backpeddalers are annoying and catch me when I turn my brain off but I've learned to trick them when I want to.
er, my brain usually IS turned off though Though, a good shot where the crosshairs are between the head and back will be a guaranteed kill on most medium/scout frames, and if all else fails the SMG will do the trick...

Benjamin Ciscko wrote:The real problem is that anyone who was a good scout pre-buff is now amazing and any amazing scouts pre-buff are now god-like. For example I saw Fusion Commander drop a 48-4 bomb pre-buff just imagine what he can do now. So people need to HTFU and get better. I remember him brick tanking in 1.7... I dropped his proto ass a bunch of times. I was actually the only one who killed him in the matches that I saw him in 1.7.

Caldari should have a long range weapon with precision and range modules.
Minmatar should have a combat rifle. Period. Nope. Nova Knives and IASMGs.

Cody Sietz wrote:The RoF nerf kind of did in the shotgun, and the slight dmg buff doesn't feel like it made any difference. It literally did nothing but nerf the gun. It still 2-4 shots everything and one shots scouts (who don't stack armor that is...) at no prof to prof 5.
