CCP is best on the PC, and while the Console has the largest FPS market it is unfortunately not what they are used to. CCP also likes long-term games not making newer versions like the Battlefield series (Nothing wrong with that though), which the console is not ideal for as all consoles have a limited lifespan, where as the PC is upgradable and thus will survive a "ten year plan."

Honestly it would've been far better if Dust began on the PC and then migrated to the console. Reason is simple. The development process for the PC is much faster especially since CCP already has experience with the PC. They don't have to deal with a third party like Sony while developing a game and the update process would be much faster. Once the game is ready, it would've then be ported over to the console in a much more finished state than what you see now.
But... CCP did it the other way instead. Result: Dust to dust. To make matters worse, they released Dust too late in an aging console.

The coolest experience was the cross platform link between a console and a PC from both types of gamers on both platforms. You made it happen CCP. LEGION should be a PS4 title. no. How many Dust players bought a PS3 so they could play it? 1. Its not just console gaming peasants. 2. No. Sonys arbitrary update BS has held the game back. 3. LOL no. 4. The PS4 is a mid 2012 gaming PC. Fact: PS4 is not 'next gen" if it cant run games at 1080p @ 60 frames per second. Fact: even PS4 cannot handle the vision CCP has for this game.
Where did you get your facts?
PS4 is simiar to a mid level Gaming PC rig but not 2012. Mid level Gaming Rigs in 2012 had a hard time handing Planetside 2 on Ultra settings. But the PS4 definitely cannot compete with a PC market or hardware.
That said... PS4 can run in 1080p @ 60 frames per second... Look at PS4 launch tite Killzone Shadow Fall. Also Look at PS2 coming at E3...
Here is the reality of PC gaming... Its a more support market, its a more connected market, and its adaptable market.
Here is the reality of PS4 gaming... Its a divide market due to "console Wars", Its a more profitable market, its a market that once sinks its teeth into a product it will stay profitable for a long period of time. |

No doubt, I too would love it on PS4. But when you put all bullet points on the scale, you see that PC outweighs PS4.
Plus, I truly believe the PC crowd will be more accepting of Legion than the console crowd would be.

well, that's pretty bold. they developed on the unreal engine on the ps3 because it would be so easy to move onto another system, or to move to pc.

MAG was what? 09? and that had solid FPS mechanics and 256 player battles, the other deeper stuff and clan support is where it failed.
BF3 and BF4 all run on PS3, 12v12 just a few short of 16v16 and they have much bigger maps, vehicles , destruction and look a HELL of alot better
KZ2....16v16 gorgeous game, solid FPS mechanics, KZ3 12v12 (poor balance on the marksman class but otherwise solid fps minus that)

Not to be an ass, but hotfixes require no approval. They only take as much time as CCP requires... With no approval, they can also royally screw up (as CCP QA has proven to not notice jack squat of issues) just as easily... Which is then fixed with a hotfix that requires no additional time...
If you find an issue and I stumble upon your thread, I will do my darnedest to get the issue known.

I don't believe PC gamers really embrace shooters like console gamers do. Point and click with hot keys is easy compared to using DS3's which takes real skill to use on the console side. Next gen hardware from Sony I must say spec wise they got it right. I hope you remember PC gaming almost died 8 years ago, the console market almost killed it, Steam saved PC. The cool thing about PC is you do get some really good mmo/ action rpg games with tons of exploration and customization, next gen consoles technologically are pretty much on par with pc.
Everyone whose hardcore in gaming knows pc's evolves at a rapid pace which is great because console hardware will be improved to dedicate all of it's next gen hardware specs to gaming unlike pc. The mod community is the real brains behind gaming because they aren't afraid to try new things thats what I love about PC the most. One day consoles will be the God gaming machines every gamer dreams of until then I do agree PC is king of technological advancement in gaming. |
