As the title says. Not sure if this is hotfixable (would think it is), but this would solve a lot of people's complaints with scouts. This is also mentioned several other places, but wanna make sure it at least gets voiced again.
If you have a suit, and put plates with several TIMES it's original weight, it should move slower, relative to a suit which STARTED at several times that suit's weight. In actual numbers, it would work as follows (#'s made-up for illustration and are negotiable)
Complex Plates: -5%speed penalty/plate on Heavy (Base,Sent or Com) -8%sp/p on Medium (Base, Ass, Logi) -12%sp/p on Light (Base, Scout, Pilot [roflmao])
Enhanced: -4% on Heavy -6% on Medium -10% on Light
Basic/MLT: -3% on Heavy -5% on Medium -8% on Light
Scouts wanna armor tank, then there is no amount of Kincats to make up for this. You can do one or the other, but not both, and Heavies will likely never notice the change.
P.S. This is the part where you tell me I'm an idiot, and HTFU, and whatnot. Until I have the flaws in this pointed out, I cannot see why it hasn't been done. Not a Troll thread, I'm actually serious about this. |

So, nobody likes OR hates this idea? Or I guess since it has been put out before, nobody cares. I just still see Scout threads, and figured this could solve issues. I will take the silence to mean nobody cares. I will drop this from now on and only discuss with friends in-game. |

I think this is a realtivly good idea. Obviously I am not sure on the exact numbers, but it does make sense that a huge lumbering heavy with increased motors and augmented limbs would be able to move huge armour plates a lot easier than a light scout suit.
+1 good idea. We would have to discover the sweet spot for numbers. |

It's seems very interisting. Really cool idea. Maybe some changes on numbers but Dev can do it ;)

I would assume that the size, and therefore the weight, of the armor plats would vary according to suit size. Although a breast plate (for instance) from a Scout and a Heavy might be the same thickness, the height and width of the breastplate would be considerably larger on the Heavy than on the Scout. This is because on the Heavy suit there is a lot more built in armor, as well as larger servos and more robust exoskeleton to support carrying the extra armor and Heavy Weapons. All that extra stuff takes up space, which means a larger area to be covered by the plate, which means heavier plates.
That is to say that I believe Plates would be proportional in weight to the size and strength of the suit.
Edit: They are not necessarily directly proportional though. So I would not rule out your suggestion.
I would be concerned if this nerfed Medium Frame Suits, or Buffed Brick Tank Heavies though.
Hand/Eye coordination cannot be taught. For everything else there is the Learning Coalition.

I suggested this a bit ago here and did some math. The trouble would be it would require some reworking of how the game calculates continuous speed. But basically it would mean that armor assaults, commandos, and sentinals on armor suits could 'carry' armor modules MUCH better (20-50% better) than their counterparts in their class. Additionally scouts would be crawling at a snails pace with regular armor modules and would be practically required to use ferroscale if they didn't want to be slower than assaults. |

Wellll like it was supposed and intended .... Scouts using ferroscales.
Right know with their high speed scouts can take armors modules having huge ehp but still a good speed. So whatis the point of ferroscales ? |

im not quite in favour of this as i use medium logi suits most of the time and -6% x3 or x4 would just get us killed more then we already do

kind of the point. You don't fit plates on a inte for that reason :D

It won't work that well anyway because UR3 can't really handle masses. (points to crash damage problem)

I don't know... Having speed reduced by a percent means that light suits already lose more speed than heavies per plate. light suits lose like, 50% more meters per second than a heavy suit.
If this game was fun, I wouldn't be playing it.

Which, as someone mentioned earlier, is the entire point of this change I'm proposing. So this means it would work perfecly.
To put it in an analogy..... It would be like strapping 400 lbs onto 2 athletes. #1 is 5'10" and weighs about 135 lbs (think average sized 2nd Baseman) and #2 is about 6'9" and weighs about 285 lbs(think big power forward/offensive lineman). Now I ask you, which should cross the 200m finish line first? (this is assuming that both have the strength to pick up and move said 400 lbs to begin with) And the more you put on, the less likely that 2nd baseman can even move, while you could pile it on the lineman and possibly not notice the weight as rapidly.
I think if you are honest with yourself, it actually does make some sense. My greatest concern is if something like this is even possible anymore or something much more drastic and unnecessary will happen to plates since scouts have abused them to no end (for good reason, it works). |
