Hello all - been a bit since I commented on the candidates, however, I wanted to wait to ensure that the full approved candidate list was up before discussing my candidate preferences for voting.
To be honest, I wasnGÇÖt sure that I would post up a list of this nature. IGÇÖve gone through a fairly deliberate process to try and hunt down most of the candidates and get to know them. Most I was able to chat with and get an understanding of them and where they are coming from. Some I just couldnGÇÖt get a hold of yet and I do feel disappointed by that but itGÇÖs absolutely critical to me as a player that I know the folks that will be representing my interests to CCP.
Before I go into my thoughts on the candidates I want to discuss the timing of voting if you are a player. I refer to this as the GÇ£DNS Black Effect*GÇ¥...from the now infamous Dust / 100% control of MH rant on the Podside podcast from a would-be CSM candidate. Of note to Dusters, this rant occurred just after CSM voting had opened and even quite a few Eve pilots that already voted quickly voiced buyers remorse when that episode aired. DNS Black ultimately failed in his attempt to get on the CSM and many point to this incident as one of the reasons. So my recommendation is to do your research now and monitor the candidates during the voting period closely as you can - they should be their most vocal and accessible during the voting window. You donGÇÖt need to rush to vote on the first day 07 July you can vote at anytime before the poll closes on 22 July.

When I looked at the candidates the traits that I specifically tried to factor in were the following: Communication, Maturity, Technical Skill, In-game Experience, Team Player, and Intangibles (my most subjective measure). Please note that I base my opinion on what iGÇÖve found in folks public posts, skype comments, twitter, in-game conversations, and media interviews. I have had personal conversations with many of the candidates and these discussions obviously color my opinions as well. With that, hereGÇÖs my current read on the field...
(Please note this does NOT take into account my STV vote positioning on my ballot as I will only finalize that just prior to voting and havenGÇÖt decided to share it yet.)
Cross Atu (Yes) - Cross in my opinion is the best candidate on the field. Not only does he have a deep understanding of most aspects of game play but he often engages those with differing opinions than his to make sure he sees all sides of a discussion. More importantly heGÇÖs simply a very good guy that can meet the players at whatever experience level they are from the newest player to the hardest core PC vet.
Pokey Dravon (Yes) - Pokey is a steady and very hard working guy that has proven his ability to look at things from a systems approach and break things down in a very understandable way and then build it back up with really innovative changes for the better. More importantly IGÇÖve seen him work with every range of personality you can imagine and he can maintain his cool under really tense situations.
Soraya Xel (Yes) - Long running candidate that truly wants the best for the game and the community. He can passionately argue for a position but can agree to disagree or come to a hybrid solution. I certainly donGÇÖt agree with some of his positions but heGÇÖs got but heGÇÖs the right type of guy to have on council.
Black Jackal (Yes) - Jackal can think big with the best of them. He wants to push Dust and Legion as far as possible and while some of his positions can cause heated debates that clashes with his position IGÇÖve known him to be a calm and logical guy that can discuss things things and frankly adjust or change his position when he sees the merit. Again, with him itGÇÖs not just his technical background but his personality that has me leaning towards him.
Zatara Rought (Yes) - Zatara is a passionate, articulate, and highly skilled player. When you step back from the past meta gaming and get to know him you see a very solid addition to the CPM. He is immersed in the high end game play aspect and iGÇÖve found him to truly want to support all players regardless of chosen role or experience. He would be a much needed team member on the council.
Judge Rhadamanthus (Strong Maybe) - I very much want to vote for Judge but I have lingering questions IGÇÖm still mulling over in regards to his friction with other candidates and want to hear more engagement on issues out side of dropships, vehicles, and AV.
Xp3ll3d Dust (Strong Maybe) - Xp3ll3d is clearly one of the more intriguing guys in the race. He impresses every time he engages and heGÇÖs much deeper than his signature 3rd Party app development platform...really worth consideration. I just want to hear a bit more from him since heGÇÖs a relative new comer to the field.
Aeon Amadi (Maybe) - Lot of great things with Aeon - well rounded and very knowledgeable and my biggest doubts are his ability to deal with friction amongst candidates or CCP.
Appia Vibbia (Strong Maybe) - Lot of folks have concern with Appia based on the potentially prickly personality but IGÇÖve personally found her to be fun and easy to deal with. SheGÇÖs got tons of PC experience and can crunch numbers with the best of them.
Mossellia Delt (Maybe) -Delt is a really solid guy and in a less crowded field would be a solid pick. I really do recommend folks take a look and remember this guy.
Zion Shad (No) - A long time personality in Dust and someone I truly feel wants the best for the community and the game. He gets pulled in a lot of different directions with his other non-Dust projects (many of which are successful) and IGÇÖm not quite sure heGÇÖs got the attention to detail for the actual scope of the CPM work.
Iron Wolf Saber (No) - I have serious respect for anyone thatGÇÖs rode out the whole tour of CPM0 and has asked for more. Unfortunately being a forum warrior simply isnGÇÖt enough and IWS causes far more controversy than he helps clear up. HeGÇÖs a good guy, seriously, just not whatGÇÖs needed on the council.
Kevall Longstride (No) - Kevall has done great work with new players and few dispute that however, he has very little actual in-game experience compared to any of the other candidates. My biggest concern with him is the clear impression I get that heGÇÖs more interested in the CPM title and supposed status it gives as opposed to truly serving the player base.
This is the candidate group that I know little about outside of an initial forum push. Honestly - just not enough information on them to consider them for the CPM yet and I would really like to know more.
Argetlam Thorson - Have sqauded with him once and he seemed pretty sharp; would need to chat with him or hear from him more.
Adelia Lafayatte - Had a brief flurry on the forums but have heard little from him.
Anarchide - Minimal contact.
Lt Royal - No contact with him and IGÇÖve not seen him very active.
SirManBoy - Working to bring him onto the Biomassed podcast.
Syeven Reed - Minimal contact.
Tesfa Alem - Minimal contact.
(NOTE: IGÇÖll be updating this post as I have more contact with ALL candidates. My rankings and ballots arenGÇÖt quite final, this is just where things stand going into the voting period.)
