The title says it all, but I'll go into the specifics. "Scouts" these days would rather cloak and run away from the objective they were suppose to be protecting just so they won't die mostly all that I saw will cloak, run into a corner and sit there until the people finish the hack and leave to actually do something.. Have a brick tanked scout? Face head on? Pfft, don't even think about it, I'll cloak and run as fast as a heavy, but it won't matter because I'm invisible and they won't be able to kill me, even if they turn on me with an HMG because my proto shotgun will end them before they can retaliate.
Let's get down to the part that really makes me question why I bother doing what I do. Here's a story mofos. Today, I was doing my derpshipping thing up in skirmish, slaying some fools with my at missiles until someone was bright enough to ft to counter me. Enemy called in incubus 20gj particle cannon and absolutely Demolished my python. That portion of the day was wonderful, I love having drop ship fights even if they kill me, because they proved they have the skill to clear the skies with no scrub tactics. After that battle, it all went down hill. I'm talking 5 red line snipers, afkers, the whole 9. This was the part that makes me wanna kick puppies. I called in my python at missiles again to get a head start. It was the domination map where if you had high ground, you controlled who hacked the objective because there was this ledge that you could camp the panel on. Anywho, I was going to sabotage the enemy tactics by shooting down their gorgon by using my mediocre airborne fighting maneuvers... Shot it down, about a minute later the pilot gets pissed and calls in an incubus. I figured "Eh, I won't go into his red line and kill him before he gets in it, this could be a wonderful dropship dog fight" so I kept slaying the infantry. I saw him out of the corner of my eye and was like "It's on like donkey Kong" so I activated my after burner and flew to the flight ceiling so we could have a proper 1v1 without his blueberry forge gunners interfering. He followed me, we took our stances glared at each other and I fired the first volley. I finished unloading my 8 missiles into him and something seemed odd about this dude because he was hovering in the same position without shooting back.while I was reloading his buddy incubus flies up, nods to me and they both activate their afterburners simultaneously and the both ram me, perfectly synced. Of course, I die, but they remain flying and well with 0 damage taken. I just sit there on the respec screen trying to process what happened and I see Incubus St missiles on the kill feed (the friend), I realised after that that I could have taken them both because I noticed one was using a blaster. They both, would rather ram me instead of actually fighting me. *rage quit piloting, no reason going broke for something that is susceptible to these disgusting tactics*.
Another thing that is a problem is jihading. I can't tell a story about that one because I've only been jihadded by Virgindestroyer, and I deserved it. Nonetheless, the statement still stands. Think I'm right? Good on you bro. Think I'm wrong? **** off. Have a good night.

Jihadding isn't bad; I've never done it, and I was never killed by it.
As far as the scout running away, that has to be an isolated incident. Before cloaks were released, I created the first brick-tanked scout (I called it my pre-amarr scout) and flawlessly defended an objective for an entire FW battle.
Scouts, if anyone, can hold an objective against a bunch of incoming reds.

Should I ***** that I've been knifed instead of shot by scouts, or that some scouts don't act like manly men and surprise me with a cloak instead of coming at me head on?
God Damn Entitled Honorable Scrubs... Nothing cowardly by sacrificing your clone for the good of the team and watching an enemy HAV burn with an LAV, or punishing an ADS pilot for staying roughly still by ramming him.
I should start a thread called This game is full of idiots.

Eenope! Why should I stand in front of an objective in my little 300hp Minmatar scout like a heavy? Because, ya know... I'm not. If I want to camp an objective with my Nova Knives to make sure the enemy doesn't get it back, I'm gonna do it, and I'm likely going to use the cloak, because **** me, CCP doesn't know how to make maps with actual cover. Except for Ashland of course, the only pre 1.8 scout friendly map in the game. If it makes me a coward for not standing in front of your bullets, so be it, but I'd rather be the coward who keeps fighting than the heavy who gets shanked and fails to protect the objective because he was in the respawn screen.
As for the dropship ramming... gotta hand it to the guys. I would have just used a militia. The fact that they both pulled out ADS's to ram you shows some dedication to the art of trolling and a thirst for tears that cannot be quenched!
Edit:
I can understand where you're coming from wanting an ADS fight. Getting fights with specific types of weapons or vehicles can add a lot of entertainment to Dust, but you can't always expect people to fight your way. Some just want to troll, screw around, or chase that FoTM all the time. It's no reason to rage quit though. No matter the game, you're always going to have those players who don't play conventionally or don't just stand around and soak up bullets.
Nova Knives are best sidearm.

To hell with FotM chasers, I still run my Minmatar assault (been UP since it's release, even moreso now that all assaults are UP). In fact, the other day when you and that other ADS fought me on the roof of the Communications building I was in my proto Minmatar assault AV fit. (Was also dodging at least one sniper during that whole fight... =/)
People with no skill will always flock to the strongest gear. The problem is, so do a lot of decent players who get sick of getting rolled by no-skill scrubs.

I do tactical retreats in my cal assault suit if I'm being overwhelmed at a point.
Its sad that people resort to ramming rather than fighting in dropship fights. A true mark of a pilot is being able to down the enemy bird using dogfighting tactics, ramming is just ungentlemanly. Any pilot who rams is a scrub.
Also the phrase "going the whole 9 yards" came from waist gunners in b-17 flying fortresses who had 9 yards of 50 cal. Ammunition for missions. Fun fact. |

Slick maneuver because armor dropships don't take much collision damage and pythons take sever collision damage it wasn't all that slick. Now if the incubis pilot had feigned a ram then pushed his nose left and swung around over his python while firing his rail and killingbsaid python that would have been a slick maneuver.

1) how can one be a coward in a VIDEOGAME??!! Prideful, okay, but coward is quite something else since this isnt irl.
2) the jihading a pretty good strategy. it wouldnt matter the person doing it in a roleplaying sense either because we r immortal mercenaries.
3) Scouts were never intended to defend objectives. sentinels were (hence the name). however, i have no problem with scouts doing so because they make for good espionage and counter-espionage units. i guess that defending against other scouts counts as counter esiponage.

I got a ramses with 250 reps ; im gonna ram the sh** out of you as much as i please. I'm not gonna just let you fly around "slaying some fools" on the ground or stay idle at the flight ceiling so you can farm some wp off of my hull. Im going to sway the **** out of your missiles, run away for 20 secs, and return to mount you from the behind when you least expect it . My role as a ramship on the battlefield is to neutralize your offensive capability, to the point where a match effectively becomes a 15v15 with the strength of ground forces determining the outcome. As for ramcubus, that's some good trolling.

I'm only gonna comment o the scout portion of that monster post because the rest was you bitching about legitimate tactics(and getting hilariously outplayed in a dropship)
a scout running from an objective even if they are outnumbered is like heavy running from a choke point it doesn't happen, at least not if the scout knows his ass from a tea cup.there is so many ways for a scout to spin a web around an objective that he has a chance no matter the odds. it just so easy for a scout to play point defense.

No I can not stand rammers but you set yourself up for that one.
You should never go all the way to the ceiling when 1v1 against another dropship. By doing that you have cut off half of the area you can use to avoid such tactics. Also why were you close enough to these Incubuses? They are slow even with after burner, you should have been using more range on your missles so that you could atleast kill the throttle and let gravity pull you out of their way.
Come back and ***** about the same scrub tactics when you are not just being a ****** pilot making it easy for them and giving them the confidence to keep trying it on real pilots.

im sorry i dont really have much sympathy for that. You ADS people destroy all the uplinks that are up high, which turns a 3 dimensional fight into a ground level quagmire of heavies and scouts.
Thats why If im out plating uplinks up high in my militia dropship, and I see a ADS, not only am i going to ram, but failing that, im getting the best forge setup i got, and Im keeping you at the ceiling all game long. If I have to call a rail tank to blast you ill do that too. |

I'm not surprised you kill infantry, I just don't think sitting in a vehicle that most can't effectively hit you in is not exactly the epitome of bravery. Slick is killing your opponent in a way that surprises them, the way that happens doesn't matter. You never landed on someone to kill them? No difference.

thats a great question why are people such pissy little b*tches in games, it is just a game yet i've seen 5 rail tanks back 200m into their redline to escape my dropship, none of them having the balls to roll out despite the other 4 being able to cover him.
I suppose its because of the isk, but this game is full of the most spiteful cowardly players i've seen anywhere, well maybe eve has a similar percentage of surrender monkeys but atleast they actually have something to lose.

yeah flying around in a coffin worth 500k isk isn't brave at all, if you overlook the 20+ different ways you can suddenly be insta gibbed in that expensive coffin, you could just roll around in a sica or soma and get as many kills if not more, but flying has its own rewards, none of which include cheap invincibility.

Slick is killing your opponent in a way that surprises them, the way that happens doesn't matter. You never landed on someone to kill them? No difference. Ever flown a python? It ain't easy, the way I fly has me on edge 24/7. I also use teamwork, my gunners and I have been flying together for months, some for years which is why we are so effective at killing. There arent any blue berries that can gun like my gunners, they can't hit reds when I'm doing a low slow orbit, and they defiantly cannot hit anything when I'm doing hard g banks when fighting av (I hardly ever "just sit still"). They are also shock troopers that go in behind enemy lines so that takes some balls. Would you consider it brave to fly in to the redline to make a run on a camping redline rail tank, kill it, then make it out with one second left on the clock? Gambling my 650k dropship in the red, such a rush.
If an infantry player wants to they can pull out weapons to hurt me, even milita swarms and forge guns can be very effective. Though let me guess, that's too much work for an infantry man.
I wouldn't call crushing a red a slick maneuver, cause all your really doing is landing. There just isn't anything interesting about ramming. Its a boring tactic with boring results that makes the engagement a snorefest. Interesting fights are the ones where the pilot actually shows some skill and does throw some slick maneuvers not being lame and ramming.
I dunno, maybe I have a higher standard for slick maneuvers after flying for over a year with some of the best pilotsin this game. |
