I'm liking the dispersion, but a few small changes.
1. Tone down the dispersion some. I have shots missing at 40m on a tank. Ideally, the dispersion should allow 90% of my shots to hit a tank broadside at optimal range.
2. Add in recoil. Ideally my first few shots should be fairly accurate, and then they start to get farther and farther off target. It should take 3 seconds to go from maximum dispersion to maximum accuracy.

3. Please please PLEASE give us a reticle that shows what the current dispersion is. I disagree. Making the first few shots super accurate, with dispersion after that, would make blasters better against infantry (since you only need a few shots anyway) and worse against vehicles. So it would be the opposite of what CCP are trying to achieve. |

Dispersion rate
Recoil is how off origin shot alters where the new dead center shot.
Problem with having dispersion rate is feathering though can completley nullify extended firing; so unless its based on heat percentage...

You both have a point. Tying dispersion to heat is a good idea, and you have a point on feathering the trigger. But a slow reset would help mitigate this. Perhaps instead employ option 1 only. As long as I can be confident in the massive majority of my shots hitting a tank broadside at my optimal, I will be happy.

At optimal range for ion cannons, which is 85m, the dispersion is the size of an installation. Thus makes hitting most anything beyond 40m very difficult. I don't want them to be pinpoint precise like before, just a 30-50% reduction to what we have now. Infantry still won't get sniped by them at range anymore, and it will help it be a better AV weapon.

Recoil sounds sensible and good mechanic - however it would largely counter the purpose of adding the dispersion. Dispersion was added to remove LBlaster sniping of infantry. All it takes me is that 2-3 shots at head for most suits.
Will 1st shot land spot on now? Dunno, have to test.

I would also like a reticle showing dispersion, I also think the dispersion needs to be toned down. 40% of my shots are missing infantry at 15m even when my aim is perfect for many seconds. I feel the dispersion would be in a better place if: The value of the change in dispersion was halved compared to 1.8 patch. (if tanks had no dispersion originally and now they do then half the dispersion, meaning twice as accurate compared to now). |

Some dispersion is fine, but if I carefully pulse my shots, I should be rewarded with more accuracy. No more sniping headshots from 120m away, but I should land consistent hits to infantry at around 50m or so. A slow reset would offset this, meaning you can't just tap the trigger and kill like pre alpha. 4-5 shot burst with a 1-2 second cool down to reset back to maximum accuracy, means large blasters can kill infantry, but not hordes of them like before.

My pin pont accuracy is hurting me because I'm keeping the reticle on them and the rounds just keep going way left and right, if you think dispersion is alright your delusional.
Make it like a true assault rifle with gradual dispersion starts out pinpoint then becomes a game of luck, it rewards the accurate punishes those who get kills by just putting 50 rounds down range, though with the dispersion it might actually help the innacurate as they didn't have the reticle on you to begin with.

Having first shots be much more accurate would just mean that you feather the trigger in order to shoot infantry. It would neutralize the effect of the nerf. |

Lol... tanker tears that they cant just farm infantry anymore. I love it.
Its a good change, although infantry AV should probably get some slight nerfs now. If HAVs can't effectively solo infantry any more than neither should infantry be able to do so. |
