Well said
There is obvious 'bandwagoning' going on already with certain CPM candidates creating a 'clic' group so that when the voting system becomes live, they can receive votes by association.
Having a private chat channel controlled by others creates a two tier system putting certain candidates above others. "yes you may join my channel" attitude.
If you cannot see why Judge posted this or don't understand the concern this private chat channel creates regarding transparency, you are not fit to be a CPM.
I can honestly say that Judges campaign just gained significant credibility already by doing this and shows a high level of integrity all round. |

It's not about collusion, there's no grand plot to try and create a specific group, it's a casual chat for all of the candidates to get to know each other. There's no plotting/planning going on. And the idea that we are trying to segregate the candidate pool is very far from the truth.
I actually do understand why Judge posted as such. I disagree with it, but I understand it. While the chat is private, there's, as of current... 17 current or former CPM1 candidates in it, and we let Hans in there too. It's roughly considered "off the record", but it's all just been a positive chat about the CPM current and future, game mechanics, current and future, and random camaraderie.
We also have a Skype channel for getting people on the Biomassed podcast if either he or you are interested. Bit more open, tends to just be people's AFKs and such which aren't stated in voice on the cast.
Let me use a metaphor here,
Back in the 70s in London, the police force was seen as massively corrupt, huge issues with freemasonry, many 'bent coppers' indeed. The police became a joke as to if they would help you or lock you up for crimes they couldn't solve. When reform happened the view was taken that the service was an absolute joke and for it to ever work again (and be trusted) Its members had to be ethically whiter than white and the very model of open, transparent and clear.
CPM 0 was the former, a very unclear motive and grouping of ideas, distrust from some, suspicion from others
For CPM1 to save the project and be a shining example of the concept, it has to be whiter than white, clean, zero whiff of corruption, clear and open debate and public and open discussion at all times in the recognized mediums.
Already having a private channel (it is private btw) where CPM members and candidates create an 'in crowd' makes average players like myself very nervous.
With this voting system, association is everything, having a group of players who 'support and associate' with each other means vote rigging, pure and simple.
Dont get me wrong, im sure nothing underhand is going on but as we cannot ascertain that, the suspicion of it is the damaging element here and that is damage already done.
I shouldn't be having to explain this really. Its politics 101. The mere suggestion of corruption is enough to keep honest players away from initiatives like this. |
