Confirmed Decloak Animation Length 0.5s0.3s
What does it mean? Are you making the animation faster so scouts can cloak and decloak faster? Or does it mean that you are actually creating a delay between decloak and first shot. I dont get it, help me!

Delay between cloaking and shooting, though I haven't gotten to test it out myself (Still haven't logged onto Dust in two weeks) I've already heard it doesn't make much of a difference.

I've heard some players suggest that the .2 second difference is so that the cloaker's target will, in theory, have more time to see the cloaker before the cloaker pewpews him.
That makes a lot of sense, right, because when you're using a cloak and trying to be sneaky, you usually approach from the front. Oh, and not to mention the standard rear-view mirrors that come with each dropsuit.
I can't believe how many people are acting like Hotfux Alpha is such a panacea. Are they all just trolling? |

I think that it should work this way: you are cloaked you approach me from my back = you kill me.
You are cloaked, I see you. I start shooting and you cant for say hall a second because of the delay = I kill you.
How it is now is: i m not aware= you kill me, I m aware = 50%....

1. If firing is independent of the animation, now the animation is shorter, fire-from-cloak is slightly nerfed because you are visible earlier.
OR
2. If you need to wait for the animation to stop before you can fire, now the animation is shorter, fire-from-cloak will be slightly buffed .
Either way, the animation is only 0.2 secs shorter, so probably not noticeable in practice. |

In my opinion it was a huge difference. I tested it on shotgun and before I shot, I decloaked. 1+
Taking out tanks but mostly infantry with my Plasma Cannon = not bad. I managed to get 12 kills. Over all the alpha is good. No lag no jerkyness.
If you run proto gear, prepare to suffer the consequences. You've been warned.

Which brings up the question of how useless cloaks actually are.
They only seem to work against someone's peripheral vision.

It means they are invisible shorter. It was done to stop people shooting while still cloaked.
