I think that really is the bit of information that smart people like me have been actually emphasizing about for a while:
if you get a game where you can constantly go 20+ to 1 on KDR, then the ultimate impact is people stop playing the game. And lets not kid ourselves about one thing; players who are beginning have realistically NO CHANCE WHATSOEVER OF CATCHING UP TO PLAYERS WITH THE 30+M SP!!! New players are going to get minor skill learning [because getting protostomped doesn't teach you anything except where to run to which is really the redline which teaches you nothing] and their skill points won't really rack up at the same level that even a player with 20M can.
Now if you want the more detailed explanation then it would also go on to being when more players leave, the overall expected percent of the population who would also buy Aurum also falls. When the amount of aurum/microtransactions decrease then the overall profitability of the game also takes a significant hit.
If you want to even take this one step further, you get a metacritic score as currently ****** as Dust514 has on ALL game websites and it results in anyone in the market wanting a good FPS game without knowing anything about the history of Dust itself will just look at reviews and would turn potential customers into players just waiting for Destiny.
That there isn't anything about a troll or what not. Game glitches are still pretty present. I've died twice today from suicide because I was autokilled when redlining an opponent and my timer said i had 8 seconds left and I died at 4 seconds *shrugs*. Happened twice today alone and 4 times this month so I think it qualifies as a glitch [and one I've reported oh months ago so I don't expect it being fixed]. When cloaked and I jump into rock formations I sometimes get stock. Happened 3 times this month *shrugs*. I think that's a glitch too. Lag has gotten a bit worse and CCP says they did nothing on the server end *shrugs*.
Yea we've all heard these complaints and the typical player response is like Star Wars "move along, move along". I mena that's fine and dandy, really whatever. But it's also this attitude of "playing the saddest song on the world's tiniest violin" toward general rants and complaints that really lets a company kind of not care at all.
Sony had to have nearly its whole gamer base screaming at their necks after the ANON attacks to make dramatic changes and shake ups at the corporate head offices and leadership positions. CCP seems rather snugly defended by its pc and white knights here. I used to tell my students something it was "with some people there's never a point to asking nicely if you don't have the power to enforce it". That's CCP and it would take not just console players alienated by Dust but a larger proportion of players to really be up in arms for them to really sit down and fix Dust.
They don't ever have to and probably won't because enough of posters on this forum are indicative of the "idc" or "go away with your complaints" mentality so what's the use for CCP to do anything? Likewise if Dust is a glimpse of what Legion is, if they can't get something to a nicely polished state in a year after release then it's already a bad show for Legion; you are using a lot of what Dust is for Legion and the same ppl, experience and expertise for it as well.
The game is horrible and unplayable at times. It's not like we have any other FPS games on the console to choose from so saying some ppl are playing by default is really the polite way of saying players like me have no problems dropping ship the first sign we can. Here's a real life scenario for some of the simpletons out there. I have a custom built desktop but I buy a laptop also because I have to take my work with me. I've brought from various brands and I'll never buy a Dell mainly. Now that first time I passed on a Dell, it was one time sure. However in the decades I am to live I'll be passing up a total of maybe 30 Dell laptops overall let alone anyone who asks me what laptop I recommend I would pretty much say "not Dell" which increases the potential number of sales lost also. Overall Dell may have lost 3 dozen sales of a laptop alone from one customer.
Now if we take this whole situation created by CCP and calculate the number of customers who will never return once an alternative like Destiny launches and the number of players who really did a test run of, hated it and deleted it, that's a huge number of players CCP basically lost sales on for just current Dust microtransactions as well as future microtransactions for Dust & Legion AND Valkyrie as I also know some players are going to refuse to support CCP on any other future game after Dust.
That's why I said smart people look at posts like this and dissect it because its not the only one and with the number of these posts being bombarded all over the forums, it's not a fluke either. Silly people look these posts and really don't actually get a clue of what really the larger picture is. |
