All in Planetside 2. This is how you attract elite level FPS players. I get trying to redo the bad parts of FPS but these aren't them. PS2 leads the MMOFPS pack for a reason, CCP get on board or get left behind. AGAIN. |

Add always on Friendly Fire to that...no real tactical game can do without it. If a casual game like PS2 knows how important FF is, well........

we arent trying to stir up revolt, but many are excited about PS2 with good reason. it even has the jet class and troop carriers in addition to one-man three wheelers to get around with...with just a touch of persistence with territory and resource pts.
the best gaming advice we have received was from Hayden Dingman from PC Gamer regarding the bait & switch that goes on so much in the industry: 'Play a game when it has the features you want, not because it might one day have those features.'
our blog will switch over to PS2 a month before the release and may return to Legion provided its worthy. its obvious CCP has lots of work to do.

PS2 isn't dying because it has prox chat, huge battles, and teamspeak. It's dying because battles don't mean anything. And I would say that Legion will have meaningful battles in spades if CCP Z's presentation hadn't happened.
Wouldn't teamspeak just get cluttered with random garbage? I have a hard time listening to teamspeak in a sixteen man pub. I can't imagine it with more people. Prox chat would be useful for calling out to Logis and such.

Pretty much this. This video seems like a very clear indication on what's wrong with PS2. If anything, the problems that PS2 is experiencing right now look very familiar. It's as if Dust's problems have somehow translated over to PS2. Funny.

1. i have heard that, hopefully they add more persistence since thats kind of where gaming is going anyway.
2. console players wont use ts, chat will be in the game client and use a headset.
3. my point is dust does not have them and not including basic features like this gets ur game ignored. |

1. I don't play PS2, but if they can do that, good for them.
2. The use of TS is not exclusive to PC. Console users, or at least those with an Android phone or a computer nearby, can use it as well to their advantage. The only thing that TS can't do is proximity chat and that's it. Beyond that, it's a tool that trumps all means of communication due to its flexibility.
3. Good point.

it looks like u have a problem with basic comprehension (reading) so i'll humor u one last time. dont be silly, do you use TS on dust? ur "console players use ts more than the game client" claim is flat out wrong. PS2 is much further along than dust/legion in regards to being a great MMOFPS so its what i'm going to play until CCP gets their head out of their ass. if they never do? i'll never come back. simple. |

1: I have, yes. I've done it for a lot of console games. Your point?
2: no, I didn't say that, I said that people do use it. Your own insult just turned on you it seems.
3: No, it's not. It's not even a good MMOFPS. Yes, it has basic things that every game should have (because sadly figuring stuff out on your own doesn't cut it anymore), but as far as it being a good game is just no. It's as bad as dust, and the only thing keeping it going is noobs who thinks otherwise.

They're moving from a 2D HUD to a 3D HUD. Apparently according to CCP MC Peanut the 3D HUD seems to help with code optimization compared to a 2D HUD.

We've added a new HUD system that allows us to more easily, on the content side, add things like a 'compass' without the direct support of Engineers. There was a great discussion on this in another thread and there were a lot of cool ideas that I've passed onto the team. Feel free to pose your own specific ideas/requests and I'll try my best to explain how it could/could not be done. I can't make any promises that it *will* be done. But I can say we've already had lots of feedback that has made us re-think things. |

I'm of the opinion that Legion should steal the best ideas from other games, which leaves more time to put in the stuff that other games haven't thought of.

But that would mean that the lobby shooter aspect of legion would need to go. But apparently that's a no no

Sure, I can give them a stab
Prox Chat The Prox Chat system itself is out of the scope of my ability to discuss. I can say that if there is a Prox Chat system, we would probably be able to notify who is chatting with a 3D Icon state. And if we gave you the ability to mute people, we could probably use it to show they are both muted, but trying to say something. If we implement this 3D Icon system right (we are in progress with that), we should do it in a way that we can have visual states that can overlap--meaning we don't need to create a visual permutation for every combination of things (muted + talking for example). Of course there is a simpler way to handle this--just have multiple 3D Icons in the same spot.
Massive Battles Massive Battles is more a design and performance thing--not something I can speak about. But if we increased the number of players on the battlefield, we would need to look at the interface elements and make sure they are still use-able.
VR Training Currently, I think it should be possible to create a training level where a player has access to practice on all items and equipment--I can't really speak on why or why not, though. What I can say is that since we've moved the UI to 3D it would be easier to create custom training tips and tutorials since the UI can be easily edited with client side visual scripting (Kismet). In the Menus thread there was a request for tooltips--I don't see a reason why we can't do 3d Tooltips on things. The limitation would be we need some attachment point that is persistent across the item type (such as the Muzzle for a weapon--which includes an attachment point).
Prone and Friendly Fire These are both possible but are in the realm of the gameplay people.

just want to go on the record about how essential all those features are, the hardcore community has consistently asked for them to be implemented. With the move to PC many of the immature types are no longer in the playerbase. probably be a good idea to dance with who brought you.

I've never understood why anyone doesn't want to see anyone go prone in a first-person shooter. I remember back when Ghost Recon was still a thing on the PC and nobody complained about it allowing prone.
