So, exactly whom decided the names in this hall of fame?
Who exactly are you, DustersBlog, that makes you qualified to make such assertions?
Most of your blog posts are reasonably well sourced,if I remember correctly, but you quoted people who you can't name? Well, I'd just like you to know that I have canvassed the opinions of two of the CPM also, (though like yours they cannot go on the record), but they have rated your blog a 3/10.
Also, since when is Regnum less of a FotM chaser than Alldin! Alldin is INFAMOUS for being a tanker during all the parts in the game where tanks were OP. Hell, he's a reputation for redline railing, of all the things. And Regnum has been using an assault suit since ever; this build (1.8) is the first that I've seen him in something else (CalScout, for the record).
ZionShad? He's had pretty much no presence in DUST for the last year or so; his last community initiative fell flat because nobody considered him credible enough to do it.
Dennie, Kane, Shotty, TP and IMPs I can agree with, but your list sure seems like it's ignoring a whole lot of people.

Its funny how some of you have ZERO knowledge of much of the Dust history. You played the game for six months and think the people "you know about" are internet famous.
The list is the people who have made a real impact in Dust, I might not agree with everyone but i've yet to see any names mentioned by any of you that are more worthy than the people who made it. congrats to the HOF members, btw.
And while I have respect for some of the things IWS has done, anyone quoting the CPM body as a whole like they have any semblance of power or opinions that carry weight in the community is a fool. |

FWIW, vids aren't particularly relevant in terms of actions within the game world. We did select someone for their contributions to the game and opinions and we doubt anyone did more for longer than Kagehoshi who has been in Dust from the beginning.
In our humble opinion FW simply wasn't enough of factor for anyone's contribution/domination of it to be included. If there was a mode that embodied that it was PC...hence Kane Spero's addition. |

Hmm.. I guess if you are going to pick only one, maybe Kagehoshi deserves it, but I don't see why you can't include both, personally.
Not that my opinion is important, but for the record: - I agree with the Alldin/Reg argument, Alldin had a rep for being omni.
- I disagree about the FW thing, I think True's contribution is as much to the community as it was to the game mode and shouldn't be underestimated. Before the big FW push he (and aero) largely spearheaded, FW itself may not have become PC huge, but suddenly people actually cared what race they were.
That had been lacking from the game. Suddenly, racial chat hannels were made, people were spamming threads in the feedback forum begging CCP to let them change their avatars - and were willing to pay aurum, trash was being talked outside of the IGS forum, etc.

For a site that's been here from the start, the list of players and corps you made shows how little knowledge, or how biased you are to people you know. You're missing the point. Betamax did nothing in DUST, period. I don't care who was there, or who wasn't. Basing their "ranking" on who was there is a dumb logic. Betamax since beta was a none factor in MANY ways. I'm not just picking on them, but Zion was as well, none factor, yet if I'm not mistaken, was also on that top 10 corps list.
Your website is nothing but biased, made up news, and generally uninformed information sir.
http://dustmercs.blogspot.com/2012/12/1213-corp-power-rankings.html
In case people are wondering what joke I speak of. Look at those rankings... only corp you have right is IMP, and later on PFB (8v8 corp battles). Every other corp there either ran from competition, or were beaten up by other corps not on that list.
You put Zion there based on leadership??? ....let's forget actual player skill right?
You should have made these ranking when PC came out, and people couldn't hide and dodge battles.
Any way, that list and this current list of "Hall of Fame" players just prove that you don't know what you speak of. |

the list was done right after the tourney and reflected how teams performed. if you didnt like ur ranking maybe you should have performed better.
fyi: no one from betamax is listed in the HOF.
for the record 'betamax never did anything' is patently false. they were integral parts of the first major alliance [cronos] which is one of only three that were able to own the majority of land in MH [the others are EON and ERA] as an aside they also pioneered the awoxing that was a popular tactic early in pc, but please go on. |

DustMercsBlog wrote:for the record 'betamax never did anything' is patently false Actually it's not really all that false. Betamax did play and win some meaningless corp battles in their first iteration early in closed beta while the Imperfects people were still there, but that's pretty much it.
Yes, they were a part of Cronos, but implying they were a central part of that alliance is pretty hilarious. SI, WTF and GAC were the main components of Cronos and Betamax did close to nothing.
Yes, some of their people (Jenza mainly) awoxed at the start of PC, but Grief University did more in that regard, and if you do remember Betamax for awoxing, it's only because they still lost when they did it.
So yes, it's pretty hilarious putting Betamax on any top corp ranking lists etc, both back in closed beta or now.
For the OP, yes, it could have included other people, but it's probably not all that wrong.

keep in mind our intent was to create a top ten list for the HOF. with only 10 slots we wanted as little overlap as possible. we tried to grab the preeminent guy in each field with a focus on what actually happened in the game world. so we had questions like:
who was Dust's most elite player? the answer was alldin kan who was the best alliance leader, mastermind & manipulator? kane spero who led the field in terms of suggestions and design balance ideas w/o favoring anyone in particular? kagehoshi what was the most elite corp? the imperfects early, but teamplayers had the most longevity. who did the most for the community in-game? easy answer - Kevall the CEO of Dust University
We chose shottygobang for his contribution to revamping the scout and influencing the registry movment. we felt cazaderon went above and beyond in terms of service on multiple levels website, suggestions, elite gameplay, CPM and his resignation from that group will always earn high marks with us...in our opinion he is the ultimate Dust player.
then we looked at corps with longevity and the ability to constantly reinvent themselves and stay relevant. Many dont like guys like quickgloves and zionshad but they were the best at this. both also managed huge corps well and could have dominated the game if it grew. people like to insult them but CEOs like Shad, QG and CBJ were basically handicapped by CCPs decision to make the game a 16v16 shooter. had it given us the asymmetrical warfare we all wanted who knows what they could have accomplished. Especially since both TCD and STB had a lot of good players.
we were bound to leave out people many of you should have made the list, but ask yourself if they were more deserving than the people we chose, and most importantly...................why?

we were bound to leave out people many of you thought should have made the list, but ask yourself if they were more deserving than the people we chose, and most importantly...................why?
Shad and CBJ would have dominated the game if it grew? Is this a joke? You're talking about zerg tactics, then a few lines later mention "allot of good players"? Zerg tactics and skill are completely different things. If they had allot of skilled players, then 16v16 would have enable them to dominate PC.
Zion was already the biggest corp in the game, and they were by all means USELESS when PC came out. QG was also a joke. I remember when NF took their planet in 2 weeks, and QG hired TP to take it back. Did you forget that or was that conveniently not mentioned?
The first big war, CRONOS vs EON... I don't think you realize it, but TP was busy with NF on STB's planet. During that period EON's other corps were the ones that were fighting battles against CRONOS. But I guess you didn't know that because you weren't there to see it, but like always, you make up stuff.
TP, IMP, and the CEO of Dust Uni is the only thing I agree with on that list. Everything else just comes across as uneducated guesses with opinions motivating the majority of it. |

Lol these types of threads are always funny.
I agree with the TP part. Cubs ran a well oiled machine of a PC match.
I couldnt speak on behalf of other corps because I didnt really run with many of the other top dogs back in the day, but TP helped me see the vision of how to lead a team and communicate with discipline. it was an everyday, every match discipline that they were an example of.
EON was alot of fun to support. Those guys taught me alot, helped me unplug from the matrix that is, "run n gun fps style" playing.
So thanks to those of them who read this. |

no its not. ur like most people who only see their style of play as valid and discount all others. what u call 'zerging' were valid tactics used by napoleon, hannibal, the allies at normandy and the sioux at lil bighorn. but of course those tacticians probably pale in comparison to ur genius
CCP rewarded the small, elite corp by not allowing larger groups to bring their numbers to bear, but acting like a numbers advantage is somehow less valid than a skill one is silly.
wrong. dotlan consistently showed that PRO was the largest corp....and Zion TCD was so useless they controlled Mimiror and the area above it for months. if you read you notice we also cataloged how QG pioneered ringers and theres no shame in this, notice how popular it became. we dont expect you to agree with our list as you see things through ur EON tinted glasses, but as I stated before, who would you replace the people we chose with and why?

then ur not very aware of your contemporaries....because he was the CEO of Dust Univ from its inception until present. says more about you than anything else.
leave out corps like the IMPs and TP just because their entities instead of individuals? probably not. the real question is were they HOF worthy? the short answer is yes. if not then tell us who was more deserving than them.

Talking about a video game this dude brings up Napoleon... SMFH...
in a 16v16 game, having thousands of players means nothing doesn't it? Yet somehow you think that Zion was "the ****" because he commanded a zerg army that did nothing but land grab at the start? Who did they fight? Who did they beat?
You're rewarding QG for hiring ringers? LOOOOOOOL ... I understand rewarding FC with leading a team to victory, but hiring ringers? Sure, let's big up QG for that "tactic", because that's "skill". Thing is I'm not even hating on QG, I find him funny, but I don't hate on him.
Ringers became popular because teams couldn't field a team worth a damn, or people didn't have enough because inactivity. To say otherwise is foolish.
EON tinted glasses? IMO EON's era was the best era of DUST. Post 8v8 corp battles, those first wars were the best. Everything afterward was a joke. Carebear central.
I'm not saying who should be on the list, as my criteria isn't the same as yours...obviously
Which brings me to my next point about not making another list on these forums. Everyone has their own prejudices about who should be there...BUT this list has to be one of the funniest I've seen...QG and Zion Shad lol... needed to wipe a tear from laughing at that one. |

"they"?... lol @ leaderboards in this game. Only in DUST you see so many people with a high KD. Trying to tell me DUST has THAT much skill? hahahaha
Games like COD and BF people have avg 1-2 KD, obviously some people higher...DUST? If you don't have at least a 5KD by now you might legally be blind or mentally challenged. The game is so easy.

God you're annoying. You're obviously one of these KDR worshippers that has an ultra narrow view of what skill is. And of course the way you're good at the game is the ultimate version of skill even though EoN is famous for doing the "dodging battles" you come down so hard on. Didn't you guys lock districts during the FEC?
I think Napoleon/Normandy is relevant because in all those instances tactics/strategy were used to overcome the enemy's advantage. You seem like the sort who would have quit and cried "no fair they zerged me!" if corps had been able to use their numbers advantage. When in reality their numbers advantage is as valid as a skill one. What's supposed to happen is battlefield adaptation, this is basically what QG did with ringers. He couldn't match the skill advantage and so he found someone who could.
And of course you think the EoN era was the best of dust because...you were in EoN! You guys were the best everyone else was a joke. SMH...sad thing is you're not even smart enough to see where your logic fails. Calling people carebears when you were some of the biggest district lockers? Seriously bro? Go home...ur drunk. |
