We need to be able to buy them and call them in; we have been promised the ability to call down installations since the first bits of details about Dust was released in 2009, and there has been an installation section in the off-map support menu since closed beta, yet to this day we still don't have this feature. Legion needs to deliver on this promise.
We need more interesting installations. CRUs, supply depots, and turrets are not very creative. After years of Dust development, and now Legion development, it would be nice to have more interesting types of installations to make battles more tactically varied. For example, I would like to see a gate installation that allows you to transport yourself to friendly drop uplinks with out the need to die, as well as some some other default location.
The small turret installations from closed beta would also be nice to have back.
I hope the turret installation AI don't track target through walls in Legion like they seem to do in Dust.

Man I wish I had the inhuman aiming of these railgun turrets. They are MEAN.
I want to call down a little base like in C&C. Command center, Barracks (for little npc soldiers), Auto-Turrets.
The answer to your complaint is PvE. Always.

I think this feature would make a lot of sense in the large sandbox areas in Legion. Sadly in Dust they have no logical place, like fighters. |

If we're going to be able to drop them, as we should, they should be worth using. Right now installations get torn to shreds by militia tanks despite being immobile. Since militia tanks are about 70,000 isk already they would either need a dramatic price increase or installations would need to cost less than a standard fitting to be worth it.
Either that, or turret installations could get buffed so they are a viable threat to vehicles that vehicle users would need infantry support to hack and neutralize. But what am I saying, that would actually balance vehicles.

I would really like to see installations be repairable a la MAG.
It would make installation and vehicle focused repair tools actually worth something too. I would also give infantry another tool to fight against tanks and allow it so that supply depots aren't just wiped off the map by greedy tankers.
In this situation though, if you called in a player owned installation... I do think it might have to be a one and done kind of thing. You call it in for the match and, while its repairable, it doesn't come back like a vehicle would. |

I really have always wanted a garage type installation...so like a supply depot for vehicles that you can switch to different fittings in without having to recall your vehicle. It would also make repairs and have a landing pad on top for dropships.
Also, marking for index because this is an important feature that should not be ignored.

I made a full thread about this before we could recall our vehicles. Would still love to have one in Legion.

Installations need to eventually become a very big part of the battlefield. For one turrets need to become much harder to destroy and they must be repairable for the most part unless they are completely destroyed by continuing to fire at them.
I would love for players to eventually be able to set up bases and defenses through installations. This would really bring the whole sandbox idea to another level. Actually being able to create the battle field and mold it to our advantage. Heres a list of things Id love to see eventually
Full range of AI, AV, and AA turrets Indirect fire Installations Radar/scanning/E-War installations Full range of solid defenses (bunkers, fortifications, trenchlike stuff, small and large barricades) Shield generators Supply depots Vehicle depots (in the case of a lost Warbarge)

Also a great time to introduce line variants within installation types. We have types of missiles, and ARs, and uplinks and nanohives, give us (player deployable) types of installations as well. Not all blasters or rails or even Depots are going to be equally effective in all contexts. Being able to select types with more eHP, or range, or RoF, spawn rate, supply rate, etc. at a premium of ISK (and likely SP as well, you'd need skills to manage installation deployment, no?) would add more possibilities for emergent play and a deeper repertoire from which the long awaited Crusader frames could theoretically draw.

yes this is all a must, we shouldn't have every nook and cranny of a map discovered and planned out without having fought on that location a few times especially if owners have changed hands of that location.
also, there needs to be a bulldoze option for new owners leaving more of a corp's individuality on the battlefield and method of defense. |

What would make skirmish a lot more exciting is to have deployable null cannons. The null cannons are always in the same spots on maps and sometimes they're in places that are unfair to the other teams (that manus peak null cannon next to the hill). So if we could drop them like advertised in the 2009 video it would not only make a better use of the large maps, but make one sided battles either go by quicker, or turn around.
Imagine your redlined and your squad chooses a spot to place and defend a null cannon. The enemy team would have to deal with it and split up their forces which might help you take a default one. Deployed cannons should be destroyable and maybe hacking them will cause them to self destruct. |

I absolutely love the idea of deployable and destructible null cannons; in my opinion, all null cannons in planetary conquest should be this way. Anti-MCC cannons should also come in blaster, railgun, laser, and autocannon; each with their own unique damage and range profiles. A laser cannon would be great for shooting a Caldari or Minmatar MCC that is far away for example.
