Marauders, removed longer back than that mate. They weren't exactly longer range tanks. They got some zoom bonus IIRC can got a damage bonus to Blaster (Gallente) and Missiles (Caldari). Not very good all things considered.
As such, I do not expect anything new to come into DUST as there are no content patches planned as a huge portion of the team is primary focused on Legion. Also, given the complete and total disgust everyone has with the Red Line Sniper, I do not expect a long range tank to be implemented ever again.

They had significant damage bonuses AND a larger damage reduction effect than tanks got on our shield and armour skills early in Uprising, while ALSO having more base HP than any other tank hull in the game. They also had better PG/CPU and slot layouts than other tanks. Ah, yes, I mixed the Enforcer and the Marauder. That's what I get for drinking a bunch of bleach every night.
I stand by Marauders being "not very good all things considered." Higher CPU/PG at 6 times the cost of a regular tank. Better slot layout consisted of an extra low for the Caldari and an extra high for the Gallente. For the Gallente armor version, 3 N-Type Hardeners, Polycrystalline plate, and the best repairer was probably the best armor tank. You could also fit in a heat sink and scanner the highs. Having more PG/CPU didn't let me create anything better compared to my Madrugar. Slightly higher base armor and shields didn't make up for the fact that it was far more expensive. I originally made my Surya but couldn't find a reason for it to exist compared to the cost effectiveness of my Madrugar.
For the Caldari one, that was not too bad. They were so PG starved that the extra low slot could mean more defensive numbers. A Power Diagnostic System would also result in higher shields. For that one, maybe the Sagaris had a larger advantage over the Gunnlogi. But still, the price of the thing was still a hard sticking point.
I will admit though: the additional damage on the Blaster was pretty nice; still not something I consider great in the ISK-SP cost to Effectiveness ratio.
