It's not a broken mechanic, as anybody with an Afterburner and/or situational awareness can evade the Kamikaze Dropship. The 3rd Person view allows you to see them before they hit you, so there really isn't an excuse as to why your being killed by them.

I'd be perfectly fine with that, as it would only happen due to gross incompetence on my part. If I allow someone to get withing 0m of me, then I deserve to die. Especially if I saw them coming in the first place (which is true in terms Dropships, as your flying in a 3rd Person view)

Assault Dropships don't cost 700k unless you make them cost 700k. As demonstrated here, it is perfectly possible to fit aa Incubus that's far below 700k. I'm sure the price of a Python won't have that great of a price difference either.
So basically your complaining about people preventing you from doing your job?
