4000 active players isn't generous at all considering just a few moments ago there were 4,342 players playing Dust at the same time. And that is just the same time, not all ACTIVE Dust players are logged in every single second of the day.

Hence why the match making and NPE blows. Dust was one of the most downloaded games on PSN, CCP should be lucky they still have 4k. Hell, terraria on steam had 15k players Today, and you can experience everything that game has to offer in a single day. His point doesn't stand at all. There are far more than 4k players that actively play Dust on a regular basis. For instance I've been playing a lot this week but I wasn't part of that 4,342 peak today. Have no clue what the actual active player base is because CCP doesn't release that sort of information, though I'm sure you could get a pretty good guess given the daily peaks.

Duran Lex wrote: You know there's a website that shows active players...i assume you know this because you are quoting 4,342 active players. That's active players online. Not overall. Active.
If games, like say team fortress 2, have an active player count of 15k...that's triple dusts. Do you know how old team fortress 2 is? Are you aware the biggest game breaking change that game implemented was the purchase and ability to wear hats?
Active player count shows the livelihood of a game. Dust is living in poverty.
Edit - I m sorry, I mixed terrarias active player count with TF2. TF2 has 50k active players today. I assume I don't need to point out what the disparity between the two numbers mean.
Sigh, do you think that site actually shows the active players in Dust? Really? To be clear, there are three population values we can look at:
Total players Active players Online players
Total players is the total number of people who ever played Dust. Active players are the players who played a few matches over the past couple days or so. Online players are the number of players currently online at a specific moment in time. The site you mentioned only tracks currently online players. You seem to be confusing online players for active players, which is incorrect obviously.
When it comes to discussing how large your player base is, you use the number of active players as those are the people who still regularly play the game.
