You don't do stuff like this in a world a million years ahead of the current one, i mean, its just not possibly sane. and if you do it to kill a tank, your basically a scrub. If you want a tank killed, take a full MLT sica, put 2 shield hardeners, and whatever you want on the lows, and go kill it. don't be a scrub. be logical, if ya get me.

well, if it is true stomping, (3-6 tanks) I would ease up on that choice, but if only 1-2, then there should be no acception.

I did this last night to a tank deep in his redline just before the match ended... good times, good times. T-T
Logic: We are immortal mercenaries, death means nothing to us because we just revive in a fresh clone. And because my "jihad jeep" cost me less ISK than your tank cost you, using a "jihad jeep" on your tank is a very sane, economical and funny as hell tactic to use.
I could tell you tips to help you avoid "jihad" jeeps, but your butt hurt is too entertaining.

Until Proto AV can solo a Basic HAV, the Jihad Jeep is the only choice for solo AVers. It is also the most fun I've had in DUST since I got my Min Commando suit. I even call in free LAVs for blueberries and set up the remotes for them.

I could tell you tips to help you avoid "jihad" jeeps, but your butt hurt is too entertaining.
If you knew me, I don't run tanks much, and almost never get jihadded. maybe just 7 times for all of 1.8, but it is a scrub tactic if you are only vs 1-2 tanks.

This thread inspired me to see what all the fuss was about
I had only tried it a couple of times, shortly after I heard the REs would stick to things back when 1.7 came out, but I had a lot of trouble getting the impact to set off the REs and even then it did barely noteworthy damage. I gave up on it, and resigned myself to using sicas and forge guns.
I'm not sure what I did differently today, but my boomwagon works most of the time now and just now I managed to blow up multiple proto turret tanks that were stomping us on manus peak, including a triple rep umadrugar that would otherwise be able to ignore my Wiyrkomi BFG and swarms!
Hell, thanks to the WP rewards for vehicle damage, I even topped the scoreboard by playing like an idiot and having a good time!

I dunno. I think jihad jeeping is probably the only way for an inexperienced player to actually decimate a tank.

Actually, it really fits into matari ideology. Minmatar are quite frequently desperate, resistance fighters that specialize in blitzkrieg style attacks, their 'traditional' enemy are the Amarr - defensive warfare specialists whose method of fighting revolves around incredible efficiency and crushing the will to fight out of their opponents : known amarr tactics involve leaving flayer mines aka bouncing betties with 10m of incredibly strong monofilament wire attached to ceramic weights swung around at speeds that can cut dropsuits to pieces with a potential killzone of about 30-35m, Kameira Auxilliaries - Amarr born minmatar slaves raised into a military life with selections starting as early as age 6 (this also plays heavily into psychological warfare - especially when kameira's are inserted to your forces as saboteurs), and hallucination inducing grenades that can cause you to think the kameiras you're fighting are actually members of your own unit, and everybodies favorite method of slave control - vitoc. The Amarr when they're winning seem like a golden horde - an invincible army that shrugs off the very worst you can throw at them (I have seen amarr sentinels shrug off direct forge gun hits) and keeps on slowly advancing, crushing all that would dare stand before them.
In response to this, the minmatar think outside the box - you can never be exactly sure of just what matari desperation, grit and spite will push them to do. They have tanks and you don't? Have a matari engineer slap some jury rigged explosives onto a modified LAV (they essentially made both out of a few solar panels, a couple of rusted pieces of metal and some other odds and ends that were just lying around) and drive it straight into the tank. Matari very much favor scorched earth tactics and 'if we cannot have it, we won't let them take it either'. In one of the novels quite a few matari realized that they couldn't liberate a lot of the slaves from the amarr worlds that they were attacking... so they resorted to killing them, some of the amarr holders had *matari children* kill their would be liberators in exchange for a dose of their vitoc.
Where the Amarr can be called cruel, the matari can be called spiteful - there isn't much they wouldn't do just to harm the amarr. In fact, it's a plot point in the Templar One novel that a matari valklear general spends *his entire personal fortune* on attempting to deny the amarr a planet in the amamake system.

Hm... I can't quite tell anymore which tankers complain about more. JLAV's or militia tanks killing their proto fits... Either way, I doubt anyone really cares what they get called at this point. If they're not throwing their clones away to kill the big bad tankers and do it quickly and efficiently, they're immediately branded scrubs.
And why wouldn't I go on a suicide run to kill a tank? Immortal mercenary, remember? Hellooooo. Driving an explosive rigged LAV into an enemy tank is no more dangerous than trying to get a scout suit past all the infantry units to get those three precious RE's on its' ass, along with the flux grenade needed to drop the shields low enough to blow up. Besides... tanks are boring at this point, JLAV's are much more entertaining, and seeing as they keep extracting rage from so many of the tankers, why wouldn't people take advantage of this tactic, especially if they don't have millions of SP invested into the scout roll?

It's a logical tactic when you have nothing to lose. If you had only your one character and were forced to start from 0 each time you died, then maybe it wouldn't be worth it.
Most times I've died in a LAV was because a friendly tank touched me. |

Please continue telling me how not to fight back against somthing that costs less than 80k but can one shot my 256k logi with splash damage by shooting near my feet once (not even a direct hit )after I unload three sets of swarms into your tank before you notice me( reloading my tiny clip) I will continue blowing you up in my blueprint lav covered in re's in a basic suit until my immortality runs out. I can't forge for ****, swarms don't DO ****, and sneaking RE's onto a tank is too much of a pain.

If your ADS is too busy trying to shoot my Gorgon down, then it's not killing my blueberries. Smacking your ADS out of the sky gives me NO points, but it saves countless lives. It also makes my squad laugh maniacally, especially because I sing this song while chasing it down

Actually its the opposite. Why would you not want to do this if you are imortal and allways awake in a new clone upon death? It is cheap, easy to pull off and is 9 out of 10 times a granted tank kill when you hit. |
