Everything. If you can find three things that PCs can't do that other electronic devices can, I'll be genuinely impressed. 1) I can put my phone and my tablet in my pocket. 2) I can use said devices without plugging them into a power source for a considerable time(you said PC, not laptop). 3) I can use either one of those as a Frisbee with little effort. I can be an ass no matter which forum I'm on. I accepted your challenge and officially accomplished it. There are plenty of things PCs can't do if you put your mind to it...
Laptops are PCs.
Also, there are plenty of pocket sized PCs.
Beyond that, modern smartphone/tablets are basically PCs too, it's just that most are ARM based rather than x86.
Consoles, on the other hand, are too inherently limited to do most of what PCs can do (or even mobile devices). |

to me, the most important thing is i want to know what games I'll be able to play other than Legion
i've never been a PC gamer. I've been a console gamer for almost 20 years and I never really bothered/had time for PC gaming
i'd also like to know what computer you have, how much it cost, how much you usually spend to upgrade it pc's only excel in one area: multi tasking. i've been playing both pc and console since 1996, and that is the only difference. on a pc you can watch youtube and have 5 windows of eve:online playing at once. the actual 'gaming' part of it is not different at all.
This is completely wrong.
Not only are there MANY more games available on PC, most of the games you can get on consoles are better on PC because of better graphics and modding - just to name a couple of completely objective differences.

Here's a good reason:

Take a look at the total number of games available on Steam: 3096 as of the time of this post.
Steam is actually a small minority of the games available on PC, but it does have a lot of modern games.

This is completely wrong. Not only are there MANY more games available on PC, most of the games you can get on consoles are better on PC because of better graphics and modding - just to name a couple of completely objective differences. It is, of course, possible to play PC games and have the same experience of consoles, but there is much more on offer. this presupposes that graphics matter, and i think any hardcore gamer will agree that graphics only need to be acceptable. they never need to be mind-blowing, and if the graphics are too good, the game is usually bad. i know very few people who play more than a game or two regularly. the online-only crowd is the type of crowd who is highly addiction-prone. if a game needs to be modded, then it wasn't much of a game, now was it. as you were.
Still completely wrong. Mods add to a game. It doesn't matter if the game was the best in the world prior to modding, mods allow for added content and customization. There simply is no substitute.
Besides better graphics, there are entire genres that really don't exist on console - strategy and simulation for example, but better graphics (all other things being equal) certainly does improve a game.

Syeven Reed wrote:low genius wrote:Ulysses Knapse wrote:low genius wrote:if a game needs to be modded, then it wasn't much of a game, now was it. 1. Entertainment is subjective. 2. No game that is modded ever needs mods. People usually only mod games that they already like. of course it is. and i agree. i'm sure the guys who make mods are the guys who really like that artistic aspect of their hobby. *ahem cough cough splutter* Exactly. here are some (IMHO) better examples:
http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/37994/?
http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/topalltime/?adult=0
Now, naturally not all of these will be to a particular user's tastes, but that's precisely the point. With mods you can make a game, any game, better.
As I said earlier, there simply is no substitute.
Just for the record, this is exactly why I play games like Skyrim on the PC and not on any console. They're just better on PC. Objectively so. |
