I've mentioned this before. Add a couch in the MCC. Maybe a vending machine, arcade machines. A big screen T V spectating those actually fighting.

True, maybe add a mini game that the merc can play on his own.
How about an autopilot?
let the clone fight on his own without my control. lol. Make a skill for it. The better the skill, the better the AI.

You cannot. To do this, we are going away from becoming more like EVE. AFKing is an important aspect of the game. We value it's importance in moving forward. It is a way of life and felt that the minority of AFKers on Dust were discriminated against by the community and forced CCP to do something they did not want to do. AFKing is a big part of PC gaming and hopefully this community will better appreciate the gift of AFKing.

Actually no. After the controversy last year that lead to the implementation of the ilde time b4 getting kicked out of a match, I became a huge AFK advocate for my fallen brethren that were not able to continue their AFK experience.
AFKing was important because of the current progression system and by setting a "cap," it lead to a weekly goal... a responsibility. Only until that goal was meet could many of of us (did not affect all of us) start playing the game for "fun." This is true for many games that use progression systems similar to that of eve and dust. I used to play Battlestar Galactica MMO and would AFK a lot.... especially when mining or waiting for a fleet to build up.
It adds to the realism... think about a person who gets in line for a video game release 24 hours in advanced who decides to take a break to go eat or use the restroom and disappears for an hour or 2. Should his spot be considered given up? While those that sit behind him will grudge and say yes because they want an opportunity to get closer to the goal, those in front will agree that he earned to be at the spot.
Now, I know that legion will be going a different route with the progression system, two things I assume would remain the same. First is long term progression (I shouldn't be able to unlock EVERYTHING after a day... or a week). I should be able to play this game for months or years and still find goodies to unlock. Second, which relates to the first, you can only progress on one progression item at a time. In other words if I'm working to unlock an assault rifle, I can't not use that same SP (example) to unlock another suit or module. It becomes exhausted.
The goal is always to not make the game feel like a "grind" and AFKing helps a lot in that aspect. It keeps us sane and from asking ourselves "why do I continue to progress?" to which many will answers are " I don't want to get behind" and sometimes the only way is AFK from time to time.
Now I'm not saying there should be no consequences, I mean so many times when mining my ship would get attacked. Luckily it had an auto attack defense mechanism which gave me some time to come back and defend myself. But I never got kicked out of the server for it. I would assume a similar experience occurs in EVE... and therefore, would be nice to include in legion as well.
