So I got this idea from a rumor I heard ages ago with dust.
So let's say your mates in EVE find a Cap or Super Cap and what to take it. Well you can't just fly up and force him to eject his pod. So send in the grunts to do the work!
Way I see it working is a fleet flies up and gets past their logistics ships, wolf packs, and other nuisances. And launches a dropship containing a CRU with 50 clones. IF it lands on the opposing ship, Penetration mode begins.
50 v 50 clones. Eliminate Objectives. (not capture) Will be Completely Indoors and CQC 6v6 Team (Small squads) Capsuleers can choose to use Drones to defend instead of us. It ends when one of three critera is met: 1) The invaders are able to eject the pilot after elminating shields, weapons, and propulsion
2) Either team is eliminated
3) The defenders manage to force the CRU to disconnect from the ship
Thoughts?

This is a good idea which id love to be a part of, but I don't think the EVE player base would take kindly to a few mercs taking over/destroying their multi-billion ISK ship's... WHICH IS CRAZY!! RIGHT?

Consensual penetration?
(Has been suggested in the past and if I remember correctly it was beaten to death and never to be spoken about, POS' and POCO's on the other hand...)

I doubt its consensual if you have to force it in!

Not talking about destroying the ship, just forcing the Capsuleer to eject...
Maybe if you want to be a **** then your EVE mates can destroy it with you inside it.

Well. Not destroying... forcing the Pod out, so another Eve-Player can capture the ship.

I think in fairness if you are mounting a boarding party the odds should be a little against you.
1) 5 hack points, each point needs to hacked in turn
2) An EvE pilot can warp out the system to cancel attack without defending against clones (due to internal repairs you cannot jump back for at least 10mins)
3) Attackers get 1 6-man Squad with 30 clones, defenders get infentesimel number of security drones, or 1 6-man squad with 90 clones.
4) Hacked Points can be hacked back by EvE logistics ships using a leadwall jamming array on the effected cap ship.

Warp scramblers and other EWAR modules would stop them from warping out and using a lead wall jamming array

can't you counter these as well? Also this do you really wan't to stop a captial ship warping away, when you know he can't comeback for at least 10 mins?
It's just something that allows EvE players feel like they can retailate in someway. Which is why so many of them are against the idea, they have a few seconds to blow up a ship before it crashes into them, then they must continue fighting knowing that at any moment they could about to be ejected from their ship. It's not a nice feeling.
If other players can stop them retailiating then it just adds another level of complexity to battles, they will need to set up vectors for escape routes etc.

Conker Live and Reloaded had a mode where you had to break through the opponent's defenses.
It was a spoof of the whole "storming the beach" idea, and you had to break through barricades. Maybe it would be a way to give the breach weapons a reason to be used? As in, breach weapons dealing more damage to vehicles, structures, and barricades.

EVE players would revolt, and I don't blame them. A Supercapital or Titan takes months to build and the costs, when translated from ISK to USD, are something around $1000. So the idea of a bunch of FPS happy PC idiots boarding their $1000 ship and killing them will not go over well. Besides, it doesn't make much sense.
The EVE Pilot has complete control over their ship. The second you boarded they could irradiate the chamber, open all the airlocks, and secure every bulkhead on their 3+ mile long ship. And that isn't including the 1000's of crew that are on board and the near limitless internal defenses. There would be no way for you to proceed as a merc. You would be dead.
But even if you somehow survived, how would you get to the Pilot? He is in a POD deep in the core of the ship. And I don't think it is built in a way that allows the everyday person to just waltz up to the outside.
The better bet would be to board and capture Player Owned Stations (POS's) with the help of EVE Pilots to bring down the reinforcement shields or something. That is something they may get behind without another gigantic riot.

OK, maybe it would be too much at first, but instead of taking the ship, maybe the boarding parties can strategically debuff the ship systems. You board the ship to sabotage a capacitor bank and it neutralizes the cap needed to jump away.

I dont see this likely hapening.
You cant storm other game player assets which he may not have the means to defend. It would not be fair to the player to have to relly 100% on third party players to play the game for him during this invasion.
Its like someone entering your house, taking your joystick from you and playing the game for you. It would not be fun for the player EVE-side.
The debuf idea, thats an interesting concept and could play a key role in fights on the EVE side.
You could play for a debuf or for a hacking (steal) if the ship was tackled in space by other EVE pilots. So, for ship missions, you would have to coordinate with EVE players.
It would need coordination with star fleets that would have to have the ship tackled, and after fro the duration of the invasion map the ship would remain immobilized/trapped.
It would then offers some action for ground troops regarding the experience of boarding, while not taking away the control from the EVE player totally.
So the game mode would include as objectives:
- Plant a bomb at a ship location: if the bomb is planted and explodes, the map is won, match ends, ship is freed, and it gets a HP debuf progressivelly from shields to armour. Structure is never damaged.
- Incursion and retrieval: the mercs invade the ship and need to hack into its bridge computers. Success yields a prize (isk, bpo's, bpc's, valuable items, etc). The ship is not damaged but it immobilized for the duration of the map.
If the gameplay was balances in this way, I see it perhaps hapening.
But anything that takes control from the EVE player, really, guys, thats not happening. |

I figure the harder it is, the less EVE players are going to hate it.
- These ships are big, so make it a full scale battle.
- Big multilevel map with lots of hallways and narrow side-passages (think jeffries tubes from star trek)
- Defending team starts with full strength but doesn't know where the attackers start. Attacking team starts with just one squad inserted with no extra clones until they take an objective/CRU, then they get the full force and extra clones.
- This first attacker squad will pretty much need the best equipment and teamwork to succeed.
- If that's not enough, add a time limit.
