Hey Mercs, it's been awhile, I've been sort of gone since chromosome, though I doubt anyone would remember me, I was far less vocal than the likes of Cat Merc or Pyrex, so introduction is in order. I played since Chromosome, then stopped at about January (Long break, you know? Too much of the same yadda, yadda, insanity) I was a part of several corps and saw the Rise of EoN.
To cut to the chase as quickly as possible, what's new? Have we gotten all the racial suits yet? (I guess that's the big question) Have they expanded PC? Any vets have answers?

Fanfest happened
Dust keynote involves CCP Rouge showing Project Legion, something CCP devs has been working on for PC.
No Dust massive updates upcoming, just tweaks to gameplay, matchmaking and PC were said to be upcoming.
CCP stated that the Project is not even greenlit
Too late, message boards are blowing up with viles of acid being hurdled at devs. Naturally people are upset
Mercenaries (many well known on forums and game, some not) begins leaving New Eden not before expressing their anger on forums.
Mary Lilac has been the face of it all, leading her soldiers into battle urging people to call Sony to get refunds for all real world money spent since players feel that they only paid for those items because of CCP's statement that they were "lasor focused" on PS3

EDIT: Yeah, what he said. You kinda came at a bad time...but I guess it was good because you didn't buy anything while you were breaking, so yeah. ALl racial suits were released, as well as the racial rifles. The cloak field was recently released... so yeah.

Ok, so all stalkers aside:
Racial parity was achieved as far as dropsuits go, the amarr scout is horrible.
There was also the release of the MAGSEC SMG and the caldari and gallente pistols.
Then came fanfest, and the Dust 514 keynote was all about a different game, a game for a different platform (PC). This game has been being developed by CCP shanghai for the last 7 months, meaning that no new content was/is/will be made for Dust 514.
This also means that every promotion since roughly October of 2013 where CCP was really pushing Aurum stff was predicated on a lie, one that was recently told.
At EvE Vegas many comments were made about the future of Dust, PVE in Dust, racial parity (in vehciles too) and so on.
TLDR:
Dust will never get PvE
Dust will not be getting a market
Dust content development stopped 7 months ago
Dust is a dead game

There are quite a few streams of fanfest that were posted, if you want you can probably find one to hear the news from the horses mouth.
CCP just got tired of dealing with the PS3 and Sony from what I can tell. They claim that they could not advance Dust on the PS3 anymore than they already had, but there are numerous examples of other games that did more than dust does, did it long before dust, and look better than dust doing it.
CCP has decided to go to PC because they claim that it will be easier to "realize" their vision of dust there. There are also some really wishy-washy assurance (in very vague language) about character transfers. Anyone who tries to tell you ANY details about it at all are lying to you, there are none.
CCP has no plans to continue development on Dust outside of some server side hotfixes, this means tweaking some values , but no new anything for Dust.
CCP has no plans to bring legion to the PS4.
LEgion itself is not a garuntee. Yep, you heard that right, CCP has killed off Dust with no guaranteed replacement. This means that it is definately a possibility that Dust will die, and legion will never come out.

im curious, when did ccp rouge take over? i didnt know he was former ea until fanfest.
its kinda funny how even in a game completely unrelated to ea that when thousands of people get shafted that ea somehow manages to find a way into the conversation.
if he took over around 7 months ago it would be a nice piece of the puzzle falling into place, unfortunately im no longer keeping myself up to date on this game as i was in the weeks leading up to fanfest.

Right around Eve Vegas. Yes, he took over and immediately killed Dust. The CPM has stood behind him this entire time, you can check it out in many of the round-table recordings now on the internet.
Also, CCP praetorian is EA too, actually old EA guys have slowly been filling the ranks of CCP, which actually you are right, does explain a lot.

Don't have beef with EA. They made some of my favorite games (We love you Bioware.) No the company I have an issue with is CCP, now. I can't even believe that they...I don't want to say stole, because they did provide a service in return...But it's bullshit. If you KNOW it's shutting down, let people know "This game is dead soon" don't...Let them keep spending money, like that...Bullshit.

We'll, no. Clearly Rouge believes that there is still some semblance of a revenue stream to tap into with what remains of the player base, and fair play to him with that. But functionally this game is over. We are on palliative care until the plug is finally, mercifully pulled. It is really quite terrible that is should end this way, but there you go. That's Game Business.

When? Nobody knows not even CCP and this isn't NDA at all. Hell there is a chance in amarr it could be a year after legion launches it is still up as stated in one of the recent interviews with the press; all it needs is a community to show a continued desire for ccp for keeping dust 514 up and going and alive.

Dust NEVER had a community, even when keynote was announced they said most online is 9.5K, nowhere near enough player to make a viable game. Hell, most days they don't even have 3K.

Guess you will just have to start playing again to find out what changed and what didnt. And if anyone tells you something sucks dont listen to them because most likely its just them sucking at the game when using that piece of gear :P Lots of changes for sure not all of them good but thats what makes things interesting i guess.

"Yet" being the key word here. We all know that at some point (probably this year) that CCP will pull the plug on Dust 514. Its inevitable specially since all the players that know about Legion have stopped putting money into dust 514 ( no point in supporting a game thats being abandoned). So yeah kiro if you play its probably best you keep this in mind.

TLDR: Dust will never get PvE Dust will not be getting a market Dust content development stopped 7 months ago Dust is a dead game im curious, when did ccp rouge take over? i didnt know he was former ea until fanfest. its kinda funny how even in a game completely unrelated to ea that when thousands of people get shafted that ea somehow manages to find a way into the conversation. if he took over around 7 months ago it would be a nice piece of the puzzle falling into place, unfortunately im no longer keeping myself up to date on this game as i was in the weeks leading up to fanfest.
I remember the day he came in, there was a posting on the forums detailing his previous position with EA. And much of it wasn't good. Something about screwing over a lot of people by making PTW items in the market of whatever game he was developing.
So we all def knew, just no one cared at the time.

Lol he just confirmed for a fact that Dust is shutting down he just doesnt know when. But then again everyone knew it the day CCP made that bogus announcement about a game that may not even launch. Even if it doesnt CCP will still shut down Dust regardless.
