I've created this thread to preserve any and all threads of valuable feedback/discussions from our playerbase. I want to make sure that no great ideas are lost, and that they will always have a safe resting place here during the development of EVE: Legion. Before you post a new topic, please check in this thread for any existing topic that might be available so that all relevant feedback can be placed in one area instead of multiple threads of the same issue.
Until the feedback in a specific thread is no longer relevant (or has been resolved in the case of threads containing issues or problems), the thread will remain here for future viewing and for your convenience.
A good idea of what I'm looking for is: -Threads of ideas or feedback that need to stay active -5+ pages of ACTIVE DISCUSSION -30+ likes (shows evidence of community support) -Blue tagged posts -Topics that have been buried, but are still relevant and/or important. -Threadnaughts (or however you spell it...basically threads containing a compilation of information of a certain topic)
What I'm not looking for: -Popularity contests (threads made for the sole purpose of gaining attention) -Arguments or complaints instead of discussions (It doesn't matter if they're popular or not) -Topics that have already been solved or dealt with (i.e. not relevant or duplicate) _______________________________________________________________
I will try and keep this as organized as possible by keeping topics of similar interest together. This means that when other players or DEVs take a look through this list, they will be able to find whatever information they need quickly and easily. For example, a main topic might be "Dropsuit Items" and in that category would be threads about the Plasma Cannon, Repair Tool, and Shield Regenerators, but nothing about Strafing Speeds, Bullet Dispersion, or Shield Recharge rates. Those topics would be under mechanics, even if they did relate to dropsuit items.
I also want to update this on a weekly basis, but the continuation of it all depends on whether or not the community and the DEVs will actually use it for navigation as the pages of threads for Legion slowly grows larger. Getting it started now sounds like a much better plan than my original list for the Dust forums. _______________________________________________________________
This is still very much a Work In Progress, so give me a bit to get things organized here. Should be finished in a few hours or so.

Pokey Draven created a conceptual design about a month ago for planetary conquest that's very similar to the one created by 137H4RGIC, though it also includes a nice graphical flowchart and ideas for PVE: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=153445&find=unread
It's not mentioned specifically for legion, but I believe it should be linked. |

CCP has already stated that they will be trying to get as many players that are active in Dust to be participants in the beta for Legion once it is available.
This thread is technically meaningless, sorry.

You should also include links on how to assemble a cheap, but decent gaming PC. However, it's likely better to wait until after CCP gives us the approximate system requirements.

I read Custom PC for info on putting PCs together. I've built my own PC twice in the last 5 years, and I used to be a sysadmin and PC builder so I take a lot for granted, but I would recommend this magazine if you want to do your research and get to grips with what it's all about.
The choosing of components and assembly part is pretty much always the same no matter if you're trying to build a budget gaming rig or a -ú2000+ monster.
Or you can just buy one ready-made, gone are the days when it was a lot cheaper to build it yourself. This mag will still help you figure out what to buy in this case.
For example, they have a regular section that specifies *exactly* which components to buy to put together your own PC, and how much each component will cost you from a specific supplier. April's edition shows a budget gaming PC that you can buy components for at -ú641. This is capable of playing the latest games at maximum settings on a 1080p monitor. (Any higher resolution and you'd have to scale down the settings, game depending)
You may have noticed I used GBP as currency there - I'm in the UK and this is a UK publication I believe, not sure of its availability elsewhere, or whether there are equivalent mags in other countries, but I trust this one, I've used it to build my last two PCs, and I'm the sort to do weeks or even months of research before any large investment on my part, so I can highly recommend it.
They're even offering a How to build a gaming PC free guide right now if you subscribe for a pound for three issues. http://subscribe.custompc.co.uk/free-downloads/how-to-build-a-gaming-pc/. Just remember to cancel your subscription if you do only sign-up for the three issues plus guide, as it's an auto-renewing subscription that will start charging you full price after three months if you don't cancel.
No I don't work for them! Just trying to help our community.
As Maken said, I wouldn't start research now, no idea what the specs will be and PC components are superceded every 6-12 months, so it's an ever-changing landscape. I tend to build budget - mid range PCs, and then expect to replace pretty much the whole thing in about three years. Upgrade paths can be problematic due to different components requiring different other components - if you leave it too long. YMMV.
I would also advise that you don't buy the latest components unless you truly want a monster rig and money is no object. Last year's equivalent components are still very very capable, probably all you need, and prices drop very quickly.
I can also reference a couple of good web sites:
- Tom's hardware: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/ - Overclockers UK forums: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/
TL;DR
Pick up some PC magazines off the shelf of your local store, have a read, check em out, and familiarise with PC components. Read PC gamer forums. Decide whether to build your own or buy a rig. And perhaps not bother until Legion *at the very least* has a green light and some form of alpha / beta dates.

This is the best one I found: http://lifehacker.com/5840963/the-best-pcs-you-can-build-for-600-and-1200
It even includes advice for how to best upgrade/downgrade each of these models if you have a little less or more cash to spend, which is something a lot of PC builds don't talk about.

Actually I-Shayz-I, there is the suggestion that it will not be just like DUST. CCP Frame quoted several of Rouge's posts here: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=2144413#post2144413
2nd quote in, Rouge says the following:
Quote: I wanted to address the questions about what type of payment model we are looking to use with Project Legion. I want to make it free-to-play, but it will be slightly different to how it is in DUST. I want CCP Z to cover it soon for you guys in a dedicated dev blog.
This is somewhat -- intriguing? -- because, how many different ways are there of making it free ;-)

Sounds like optional subsciption models, or free to play for a certain amount of content and a subsciption or single payment to unlock the rest.

most likely optional, but that would probably have boosted SP gains, and nothing better than that

For starters, the microtransactions that are offered currently in Dust will obviously not be the same in Legion because of the possibility of all dropsuits in Legion being BPOs (free) and all suits being tieracided. Boosters will likely still remain as the primary source of revenue but also cosmetics might get introduce to account for the possible removal of pointless AUR suits. That might be the slight difference that CCP is talking about.
