I don't hate new players. I'm just in favor of the sink or swim 'immersion' methods, with a bias towards difficult challenges, and an aversion to coddling.

Not yet.
But, I would think that Bungie and Activision can handle it and probably have it in the works.
The competitive aspect is what will give that game longevity and I don't see them missing that opportunity.

yea, I spent hours of time teaching new players how poorly explained game mechanics work because i hate them.

For some reason I don't believe you. I'm not believing a single thing related to Fallout 4 until it comes from Bethesda directly. Survivor 2299 made sure I never give even the slightest credibility to any rumor related to Fallout 4.
