I think it's only right that the login screen for Dust contains some information about the halt to its development.
There's no telling just how many regular players don't actually know that the future they've been playing for no longer exists on PS3.

You people are so damn stupid. If CCP didn't want people to know, then why would they reveal Legion in the first place? You idiots are acting like DUST has been abandoned and it's not going to be supported by CCP for at least a few more years. DUST even has updates coming out later this year and a few improvements as well. At this stage Legion may not even become it's own game! Although it's unlikely that it won't. Not to mention the PS3 isn't a permanent platform and Sony will take the PS3 servers down and use them for something else as soon as it starts costing them more money than it makes them.

Bolded for emphasis. That is why there should be a statement in regards to slowed development and the move to PC. People should know before they throw money into the game. What happens if they buy something that is not applicable?
I doubt it is CCP rubbing their gloved hands together going "we steal all the money!" I don't think CCP would do that. However, because of the massive change, there really should be a warning on the front page. It is just courtesy for the customers is all.

Don't you think that something as significant as the announcement that was so important that they spent the entirety of Fanfest talking about, that they are essentially diverting the majority of their efforts onto a new version, on a new platform, warrants at least a mention on the front page load screen in-game?
This is their new "vision", their new baby! You'd think they'd be shouting it from the rooftops but, for some reason, they've neglected to mention it to any of the in-game Dust players. We all know that only a small percentage visits the forums after all.
Maybe they forgot, because it still only contains the announcement for 1.8.
Then again, somebody did update it since Fanfest, because the info for the Origin Event is no longer there.
Granted, we should give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that it isn't anything nefarious, that they aren't intentionally misleading their customers.
Much better to assume that they're just incompetent, and simply forgot to tell the majority of their current players the most important news since Uprising 1.0. 
Either way, somebody has to tell them. |

There was no promise of such to begin with when you downloaded it. YOU decided to go on CCP's website and buy into their bullshit. The product you downloaded from Sony did not promise all these things.
And I'm sure Sony will force them to do something if they plan on shutting it down, which right now is NOT the case.

True enough. But any legitimate fan of CCP/DUST/EVE has already heard about Project Legion. It's a huge topic right now and not just in the DUST community. In all honesty, why should they veer potential customers away if they're still supporting the game for years to come?
Check this out. People were SO ready and willing to spend money on AURUM before the Legion announcement. What did they spend their AURUM on exactly? Weapons? Dropsuits? Equipment? Vehicles? Any of the other number of items on the market which get used up and wasted every single time you die? All of that stuff, for lack of a better analogy, evaporates into thin air. With some luck, maybe someone on the other team will get some AUR weapons/equipment as loot. Their money just disappeared with absolutely nothing to show for it, aside from MAYBE a higher K/D ratio and slightly higher SP gained at the end of a match. Probably the only real sensible thing to spend your AURUM on is SP boosters.
So, knowing all of this, why nitpick at the fact that only "applicable" assets will be transferable? Your character's name, SP gained and such... all of what REALLY matters will be able to make the jump from DUST to Legion. The fact that some items MAY not make the leap to Legion means nothing. Everyone will be using all of those items in DUST as they play in the years to come. CCP will undoubtedly change what's on the DUST market, well before Legion is released, to reflect Legion's weapon sets so that most, if not everything, will be transferable. Knowing CCP, they will give you a Legion variant of any AUR weapon/equipment you may have from DUST. |

What I see hapening is, CCP shows what they are doing for the future, new POSSIBLE game, Dust still going as a REAL, ONGOING game. People freak out, stop spending money because the sky is falling. Situation changes, and Dust makes no more money, players drop. CCP sees that Dust isnt worth it, then really drop the game.
Its kind of a self realizable profecy, and if Dust ends sooner than latter, players are the only ones to blame. |

Okay... have you followed DUST since the beginning? Do you know that this game isn't even half of what they were aspiring to when they began? What they were striving for is practically impossible on the PS3.
Let me mention this too. I only have access to a low-end laptop which won't even be capable of playing Legion when it comes out due to it's Intel graphic's chip. If I want to continue playing after Legion comes out I'll have to buy an entirely new computer. Wonder why I'm not jumping on the band wagon with the rest of you and acting like this is the end of DUST.
If you ever gave a s*** about DUST and what it was MEANT TO BE from the very beginning, then you would agree with the release of Legion. |

With out that information they can not make a informed choice of purchasing boosters, aur or gear. If the wish to after beingeinformed then that is their choice but they will have all the INFORMATION to to make it.

I understand that. And to the contrary, aside from our experience with CCP in DUST, they've done quite a bit for the fans, too. It's not like they continually screw fans over like more than a few people seem to think. CCP is literally one of the only companies who truly tries to do right by it's fans. These people praising Sony for giving refunds are fools. Sony does not give a s*** about it's PS3 users. We're just a money pot to them.
All that aside, I'm loyal to the idea of what DUST was originally intended to be. This DUST that we have clearly isn't it. Legion seems like a HUGE step in the right direction, so naturally I'm all for it, even if I can't play it on my POS laptop. This may be what encourages me to buy a PC and actually be able to play newer PC games.

This game is definitely not capable of being Legion. It's not a matter of fixing their code. It's a matter of the game and the system just not being capable of being what you're saying it's possible to be. You obviously have no clue what you're talking about. Legion isn't just DUST with shinier graphics.

I understand what you are saying. You, however don't see what I am saying. DUST is still fully operational and will be for years to come. You can go and spend money on useable equipment/weapons/vehicles/etc., and if you actually use it to play the game, you will not have ANY of that left if/when Legion gets released YEARS from now. Why would CCP scare away customers like that when, as I clearly stated in a previous post, they WILL be supporting it for at least a few more years?
It's not like a person buying AUR assets today will have the same AUR assets when Legion comes out, again, YEARS from now. I could understand after Legion actually gets the green light and gets closer to beta or something. But now? That's just ridiculous. You may as well say that they should have discouraged people from buying AURUM, before the Legion announcement, simply because most of the things you can buy with it just disappear upon death. People had no problem wasting their money frivolously before the Legion announcement and having nothing to show for it except higher K/D stats. What's so different now that they've announced Legion? Practically nothing as things stand right now.
Legion isn't DUST. So why have announcements in the news update about a game that has nothing to do with DUST yet? Why not put EVE updates in it too? For that matter, why not put up an announcement in-game that the World of Darkness MMO has been canceled as well? |

I'm reluctant to keep repeating this on different topics, but the trailers for Dust514 are full of content that this game does not have, and which we now know will never get.
If the lobby shooter experience was all this game was billed on, there would have been a fraction of even its smallest player numbers.

As much as I love my Playstations and all the little benefits Sony provides over Microsoft, Sony habitually slaps it's own customers in the face. I've always thought it was a mistake releasing DUST on the PS3. As I've stated, the PS3 is not a permanent platform and neither will the PS4 be a permanent platform. By the time a PS5, or whatever it will be, comes out, PS3's servers will most likely be offline or used for the PS4. Either way, if you all insist on having DUST or Legion on consoles, this argument will inevitably come up again and again as this type of game is doomed to failure on consoles. All due to the fact that they are NOT a permanent platform like PC's. That means that each console will inevitably die off and close it's servers. Cutting off all possible new players joining the game and maybe even your ability to connect to CCP's servers to play the game in the first place. This IS what would happen. 10-20 years from now we will STILL be using PC's. Albeit with newer parts and operating systems. However, 10-20 years from now, where's the PS3 gonna be? Where's the PS4 gonna be in 10 years? I'd wager nearing the end of it's era. You don't honestly expect CCP to completely remake the game every time a console is released do you? Potentially losing it's a vast majority of it's player base in the process? That's absolutely absurd.... |

"Literally anything that you buy with real money that is applicable to Legion, when it comes out, will be transferable." I've read that will "try" to move things over but that that they will. Feel free to link any comment from CCP that says it will without 100% of a doubt be moved to Legion.

What if they had have announced Legion for PS4. Would people be going up in arms about how they feel betrayed and all of this? Of course not. All of the console fanboys from here to Molden Heath would be celebrating.
Were getting something a lot more like we expect, something a lot more like the vision that was originally spoke about. This is just pure hate for PC`s from the console kids.
To Clarifiy - its been a common topic throughout the year about Dust going over to PS4. What's the difference? You are going to have to have different hardware regardless. DUST on the PS3 was something people knew would not last.
TLDR - Consoles suck balls, moving to PC is the clear choice for any EVE product in my eyes.

What I see hapening is, CCP shows what they are doing for the future, new POSSIBLE game, Dust still going as a REAL, ONGOING game. People freak out, stop spending money because the sky is falling. Situation changes, and Dust makes no more money, players drop. CCP sees that Dust isnt worth it, then really drop the game. Its kind of a self realizable profecy, and if Dust ends sooner than latter, players are the only ones to blame. That's like blaming the troops when the general is responsible for the fail cascade.

They've taken development time from Dust, and given it to a project which they are not even sure will become a fully fledged project.

The move to PC is a big deal because it's leaving behind so many of the players who helped build the game in the first place. I have no animosity toward PC, although folks like yourself are helping me develop some for its advocates.
And let's not forget that billing this as a "new" game, rather than a continuation of the current one gives CCP a lot of ways to renege on obligations we would have otherwise kicked up a stink about.

It is still far too early to discuss platform expansion, as like you saw we are still only working on the PC prototype at this time. But the PC architecture gives us the opportunity to grow once we have a great PC product at hand. For now, though, PlayStation 4 is not something we are working on.

I mean you just confirmed my thoughts right there. If the game was to go to the PS4 they would still be leaving behind many of the players. However , and I could be wrong, but I get the feeling most players would not see PS4 as abandoning the PS3.
Besides they will still work on PS3 DUST. some features may get implemented for both games. Not only that Rouge talked about things they are working on that they want to release over the coming months. Its not what people expected for the PS3 granted. Some people thought this would go the way of PS4.
I for one am glad it is going back to PC because EVE is PC. Half of the players that play DUST came from EVE, a good portion of us were influence to buy a PS3 because primarily of DUST so dont think we dont understand. I am just happy because it is going to where it should have been from day one.
EVE players funded DUST, EVE = PC its only logical after DUST`s failings that they go back to the PC.
Oh by the way, the EVE experience as a whole was never stated as a console only experience. Look at the bigger picture and its not so bad. However I have an obviously bias standpoint as I came FROM PC to the lack lustre PS3.

Maybe but CCP would still be the root of the problem and be the actual cause of the issues.
Players are not interested in playing a dying game and generally for a MMO once it is announced there will not be any new content its considered a dying game.
I guess CCP never got that memo.
