I spent 30$ on this game so no big deal to me. I feel bad for people i know that always buy the boosters and such knowing that the game is most likely on the way to just being phased out. For me the game was worth 30$ and its funny because i still have a few thousand aurum because i cant buy anything worthwhile with it. |

Harold i think you nailed it. If they had been forthcoming most people wouldn't be so aggravated. When you start to push product and entice people to spend more money on the game to then just weeks later reveal that the game is going to be put on the back burner it is a slap in the face. Might as well just make a big public posting and call everyone that just spent more money on the game a chump. I am glad sony is willing to revert all purchases over the last 90 days and i hope it hurts CCP at least a little bit. I know it won't mean anything because they have the almighty eve flagship but even if it only hurts as much as a mosquito bit i will be happy.
I am just guessing customs over in Iceland are very different. Must be very rude people over there because CCP honestly seems to have no clue how to treat their fan base. Even Microsoft treats customers better at least with MS you know when support for your platform is going to end and the terms and conditions are spelled out. CCP its just anything goes at any time and sometimes we will just do a 180 on our stance because we can.

They misled their own customers for profit, and they should suffer as a company as a result. If console gamers weren't so apathetic about this stuff, they would challenge these actions so that they could get better products from developers. I'm sure as hell not accepting this, if they get away with it, all gamers are gonna get from them are crap products and lies. I hope everybody who's already left this game for good carries this experience with them. A scam that the law hasn't caught up with yet is still a scam. How have they misled anyone? First - they have made an announcement - at Fanfest in fact. Second - the game still runs and the microtransactions still work. Third - the game will continue to run for some time (this is admittedly an assumption, but they haven't announced a closure) So, you got what you paid for, and can continue to use what you paid for, and it works exactly as advertised and expected. It's you people, who somehow thought that CCP was going to continue developing on a dead platform forever that are misleading yourselves. First is wrong to even bring up - they sold more expensive booster prior to fanfest - is this not an un-honest move? The english translation for that is dishonest. Personally yes i think it very much is. If you are going to soon be discontinuing a product and you sell virtual goods that are only useful in the product you are about to discontinue its misleading to start selling said goods to people especially when said goods are worth money (sorry but aurum though a fictional currancy can easily have a real world value ). So yes to me it is easily very dishonest. I think the fact that Sony has been giving refunds for purchases up to the past 90 days speaks volumes to this. If it was not dishonest business practice i doubt sony would side with the players.

I think the big confusion here is about what expectations are. Sony is siding with the players on this one when it comes to refunds and giving most players refunds for up to 90 days of money spent with CCP. That alone should speak volumes to what proper business practices are and set a presidence. Sony could very easily side with CCP and simply say sorry but the game is still online go pound dirt and players would still only be upset with dust. Sony has nothing to loose here but they choose to side with the players. CCP selling omega's just before announcing that dust is being moved to the back burner is crap. Who knows now how much longer dust will be up to play. What happens now if the dust server is attacked and someone manages to f it up badly? Would they just pull the plug and say o well it was going south anyway? Its a lousy way to treat players to sell something like omega boosters then tell everyone thanks for the money and o ya we no longer give a dam about the game. I mean heck Dust has been in release for what a year now? maybe 2? CCP has given up on dust and honestly its mostly because they haven't a clue how to code for the PS3. There are many games out there that do more than dust and even have better graphics.

No, it isn't. You bought the boosters because they give you an in-game advantage. They still do. They will continue to do so until the game shutters.
What does this have to do with anything I said? Everything, just because you have your expectations and make assumptions, that does not make them true. Reality is that you bought some virtual goods and those are delivered and working as promised (you saved yourself time). Why is it so hard to understand that you just bought a (virtual) product and not invested in future development. Whatever a company does with the income they make is up to them, they could have bought a private jet for themselves if they wanted to. You buying a product from a company does not entitle you anything else besides that product, virtual or not. As far as the refunds go from Sony, that is their default practice as a reseller to keep you as a customer while they deal with the supplier, just like most other payment services do. This has nothing to do with why what they did was dishonest. Putting boosters on the market before announcing dust was to be down-graded in development is dishonest. They should of waited until they made the announcements - they would of sold a lot less boosters. And that's exactly why they didn't. It's dishonest business practice. Wether or not my product work has nothing to do with the fact I bought a product under false assumptions by CCP that they 'intended' to explain in fanfest, but, ya, decided to put boosters on the market for a week then off right before fanfest. I think an accurate comparison would be this. Company A is starting to sink everyone in upper management knows this as a fact. Company A has started to even file for bankruptcy but at this point nothing has been cemented yet. Company A then starts a big sale of gift cards offering all gift cards at half their face value. Consumers buy these gift cards because it is a great deal and they have no idea the company has started the process to file bankruptcy. One week later the court approves said bankruptcy and the gift cards are now not even worth the plastic they are printed on. That is how many players in dust feel because of how this was handled. If Company A had advertized the gift cards as a going out of business sale reaction would be greatly different. So would the playerbases reaction. |
