Put me in the PC Group...
I'm not a console gamer, the only reason I bought a PS3 was to play / live stream DUST 514, and the only reason I even did that was because they had Mouse / KB Support!
I think the news of EVE: Legion is very positive, that demo looked very good.
I do think they made a huge error announcing EVE: Legion during Dust Keynote.. this should of been totally separate....
Also I'm wondering about some of the rage here in that, PS3 has huge limits - theres been issues that cannot be solved on a PS3 Platform (one example 1080p60+) ...
How do ya PS3 people not know that one day sooner or later there had to be a change?
It was either PS4 or PC...
They picked PC (for now) to go with there vision of EVE UNIVERSE with jump cloning between there 3 different games.
When EVE LEGION is launched on PC, I'll bet they will get a PS4 Port going down the line since they have a good relationship with Sony.
I'm also pretty sure Dust Migration to Legion will be solid ... they will go overboard and make everyone happy beyond expectations.
They will also prob give something to DUST 514 PS3 Players to there new PS4 - EVE: Valkyrie game coming out soon (CCP people listen to me here, give all Dust 514 PS3 people stuff in Valkyrie as addition compensation)
Just give it time, patience!

I mean, I didn't buy it for Dust 514 alone, but I wouldn't have bought it had it not been for Dust 514.

You either had to buy a PS4 or a PC. Either way you would still have to BUY a machine.
I didn't see that many PC players raging about the possibilty of having to buy a PS4 and yet this entire forum is screaming like little children at the prospect of having to buy a PS4.
Most of this forums looks like This to me and probably most of the eve player base.
I do agree that having absolutely nothing presented on Dust at all for FF2014 was a dumb move though.

CCP are awesome they are harnessing laser focussing techknowledgey with the ps3. its quite tricky as far as I understand, you need a special crystal and many angled mirrors.

This was the best possible news I could have hoped for. I was just expecting some lame new outpost or maybe a weapon or two, some bug fixes. Instead, they announced that DUST has an actual future through Legion?
Sign me up! ^_^
They can do whatever they want with DUST at this point, I will be patiently waiting for the game I was originally sold on in the first place.

no one is mad about having to buy a ps4, most likely all of us ps3 players were going to buy a ps4 anyway

I wasn't going to buy a PS4, not unless Dust was moving to it. I wasn't happy about it but I would have done it to continue playing a game I enjoy.
I don't see why this is any different.

well for most of us console only gamers its about what we are used to. We've been on console most of our lives and will continue doing so, we dont want to go and adapt to something completely different

People have a right to be mad about the announcement, I dont disagree with that. But you can't seriously say that 'no one' is mad about the platform change. I would say of the most who are angry about the announcement... most of them are also angry about the platform change.

That is your choice to limit yourself to that play experience and I think that's perfectly fine but demanding a company conform to that is not reasonable imo.

im pretty sure we all knew that dust will one day come to an end on the PS3.
we're just pissed because the way CCP told us was pretty much like this:
CCP: thank you for all your hard work in giving us your hard earned money, and during this event please carry on buying our booster packs, oh and btw we're going to stop all work on dust in the future and focus on legion. but please do cayy on buying our booster packs
that and the attitude of CCP sort of rubbed us the wrong way. so it kinda felt that they hardly listened to us the community which CCP claims that they do and they pretty much broke our trust in them, so a lot of players have left the game for good by biomassing their characters and the few who stayed behind hopping that legion will be better etc etc

The issue is not that the game is being moved to PC.
It's that they systematically mislead us, for 6-12 months, into believing that major development on Dust would be continuing, and we'd get the player market, PVE, connection to Eve sov warfare, etc that's been promised all along. They did this in order to increase AUR sales. I and many others made purchases on the promise of what the game could become, when CCP had secretly decided that it would never become more than what it already was.
The move to PC is actually irrelevant. Everyone would be equally pissed off if the keynote had just been 'Dust development is being stopped, we were just making you think we were bringing cool stuff to make money off of you' with no mention of PC at all. |

WAY back in 2011, the news about EVE Online: DUST 514 was very positive, that demo looked very good.
There's content shown in that video which STILL HAS NEVER BEEN IN THE GAME.

Good for you if you have money to spend for CCP, I do have a pc, I bought a PS3 for Dust in priority and played EVE since a while before.
Now I will never back or try an other CCP game no more.
Dust was traumatic for people. For me it was relevant on CCP's business.

If you wait until you're sure to do things in life, you won't accomplish much.
The three main things that make me confident:
PC platform. It's far less constraining, it's familiar to CCP, and it's easier to port to PS4
New Devs. Most of the devs from back then are gone, and we've been getting more and more devs.
Lessons Learned. Many of the mistakes have been made, and I'm sure many more will be made, but now they have a foundation to work from along with a series of lessons they can easily look back to.

I bought a PS3 just to play DUST and only DUST. Never used it for anything else. I only payed $40 for it though. Got a few good months out of it before it broke.

I have faith (yes, unfounded belief lol) in CCP Shanghai as developers. I truly believe that the reason Dust 514 is such a bad game is because of the PS3.
On their native platform I trust they will create an experience worth playing.
