Gåæ This is my main motivation. Im a former PC gamer, and I got a console cause I was tired of the ultra tryhard PC crowd. People who double cross and make everything unpleasant in the pursuit of what they think will be a career in videogaming. I figured the console crowd would be more relaxed, with more emphasis on fun.
Little did I know what kind of effect auto aim + squads would have on console players. Some of the attitudes of console players in relation to their perceived importance and worth has made me a little nostalgic for the PC tryhard crowd. Atleast their accomplishments was worth acknowledging. Altough grudgingly.
So im really not surprised at some of the petty and selfish attitudes people have been having since the announcement. They spend months going all out in pub matches against new players, and then get surprised when the game maker wants to pull the plug and start over. What did you think was going to happen? You burned the new player market good. Without a re-branding and relaunch, the player population would be forever hobbled by bad experiences.
Anyway, with all that said, let me answer the original question; Compromise. When the announcement was first made, it sounded like we were abandoned. Now, they have taken some steps back and are working to harmonize any future move. Dust 514 is not scheduled to be shut down for now. It will eventually, but i figure there is atleast a good year or two left before the game sunsets and any migration happens.
So if they are willing to take some steps back and compromise, me too i am willing to take some steps back and compromise. Its Sunday afternoon, and im going to go play the game instead of sitting here and feeling sorry for myself. |

Joke of the day award goes to this guy right here Gåæ
I appreciate your enthusiasm for the whole situation though. If ever you want to learn why I found your comment so humorous, I have some reading for you to do: Antitrust
For anyone who doesn't want to go to the link, here is a quick rundown of what Antitrust laws in every nation generally cover:
--> prohibiting agreements or practices that restrict free trading and competition between business. This includes in particular the repression of free trade caused by cartels. --> banning abusive behavior by a firm dominating a market, or anti-competitive practices that tend to lead to such a dominant position. Practices controlled in this way may include predatory pricing, tying, price gouging, refusal to deal, and many others. --> supervising the mergers and acquisitions of large corporations, including some joint ventures. Transactions that are considered to threaten the competitive process can be prohibited altogether, or approved subject to "remedies" such as an obligation to divest part of the merged business or to offer licenses or access to facilities to enable other businesses to continue competing.
If you want to say "Well we found a way to scam the system and there is nothing you can do about it"..... alright, fine, that is kind of true. But dont pretend like this is the hard earned fruits of your labor. Its a system of collusion and subsidies that would never see the light of day in any free or controlled market anywhere. |
