The vast majority play video games casually to have fun. The vast majority aren't concerned with what CCP does or is planning. They log in, play some games, log off, and continue with their lives.

I turned voice chat off a long time ago, I would be playing right now too if I hadn't wanted to watch the DUST 514 KEYNOTE that never existed, just imagine all the trouble of flying to FANFEST to actually be there!!!!!!!!!!! |

It is funny because the last 4-6 weeks Dust has been actually getting more players every weekend, not less. This should tell you something.

A lot of people in university and school are taking finals right about this time. That and Summer is starting.
Just because people aren't spending every waking minute on DUST during their weekends doesn't mean it's dying. Remember outside? Yeah... sometimes people like to go outside on the weekends...

I wasn't going to play again but I couldn't help myself. It's funny, I don't actually care whether I win or lose, how much ISK I lose, or whatever. DUST has paradoxically become quite fun again.

Gåæ This is my main motivation. Im a former PC gamer, and I got a console cause I was tired of the ultra tryhard PC crowd. Little did I know what kind of effect auto aim + squads would have on console players. Some of the attitudes of console players in relation to their perceived importance and worth has made me a little nostalgic for the PC tryhard crowd. So im really not surprised at some of the petty and selfish attitudes people have been having since the announcement. They spend months going all out in pub matches against new players, and then get surprised when the game maker wants to pull the plug and start over. What did you think was going to happen? You burned the new player market good. Without a re-branding and relaunch, the player population would be forever hobbled by bad experiences.
Anyway, with all that said, let me answer the original question; Compromise. When the announcement was first made, it sounded like we were abandoned. Now, they have taken some steps back and are working to harmonize any future move. Dust 514 is not scheduled to be shut down for now. It will eventually, but i figure there is atleast a good year or two left before the game sunsets and any migration happens.
So if they are willing to take some steps back and compromise, me too i am willing to take some steps back and compromise. Its Sunday afternoon, and im going to go play the game instead of sitting here and feeling sorry for myself. |

Get told for months that fanfest is going to be awesome
Get told repeatedly the focus is PS3
Tune in to dust keynote, find out dust is dead and has been for 6 months.
I think a good bit of anger is justified, actually it is WAY more justified than the ******** "summer of rage" from EvE players. I don't remember you saying anything about them being a bunch of children even though they threw a temper tantrum over an overpriced Barbie accessory.

I still play dust because i'm in to the "lobby shooter" it has become and will be til its last day
severing the link to eve is bad news but it doesn't affect me personally
COD is full of children and bf squads are to small for me
I like the objective based gameplay, the weapons, and the variety of suits dust is offering
CCP says there is still updates and things to come for dust so why should I stop playing?
hopefully later within this week CCP will sober up and tell us exactly what dust still has planned
