No, we were promised Legion, but we were sold Dust. That is very different, and one of the reasons why a lot of us are upset. Well you have to admit to technical limitations. There is still hope for a PS4 port. I don't know what to tell you guys. Would you really rather DUST just disappears into irrelevance on the PS3, rather than becoming what it was always supposed to be, with an actual possibility of a quality port to the PS4? The PS3 version was never going to reasonably be ported, it just wasn't going to happen. This is a matter of realistic expectations, of what can ACTUALLY be done. Either we settle for a barely mediocre niche game with slight ties to EVE, or we push forward, and have the game this was always supposed to be. Everyone wanted a better version of Dust. But we're upset because 1) CCP had the nerve to tell us about Legion the way they did, with no word on what would happen to Dust, and with no word on whether console players would get the chance to experience "the better Dust"
2) Kept all of this information hidden instead of being open with the community like they claimed to be. "oh hai guys and gals. We're glad you like Dust. Btw, we're going to try to create the uber version of Dust on PC because ps3 is kicking our butts. We're still going to be adding new stuff to Dust (don't forget pilot suits!) so we can see what works and what doesn't work on uber Dust and because we love our players. Stay tuned because your feedback will shape the future and see ya on the ps4!" Nope. none of that.
3) Tons of promotions to encourage us to spend Aurum when Legion was already several months into development, and Dust was already considered dead.
4) for a company named Crowd Control (the CC in CCP) they did very little of that. Instead they locked threads, banned players, and waited too long of a time to answer too few of our questions.
you know, bad news is bad. it always sucks. but you would be surprised how well people take bad news in stride if they are told straight forward, with no bs. I want a better Dust. Heck, if I could run it, I would have played Legion, but after this I'm very skeptical about all things CCP.

It's gonna take a long time to heal this wound, I just hope that in time, we can all come to a compromise that works for as many people as possible. I want to see you all in Legion, kicking the **** out of my ****** little corp and giving me a run for my money. I don't want to see anyone get burned, but at the same time, I want this game to succeed.
Sleep is needed, I'll try to respond better tomorrow
o7 lol, I would have to be good first if I wanted to kick the **** out of your corp, so don't worry about that. Yeah, it is a bummer how this turned out. Especially since right before Legion there were several movements to try and make the community less toxic. Guess those attempts are out the window now.
I suppose if there's any good that came from this, is that a lot of the forum users can find a common ground to stand on and look away from past grievances. Too bad that common ground is "ccp screwed up".

I'm not mad that Legion is coming to PC, I'm mad how CCP handled Dust at Fanfest. There was zero mention of Dust on all of the presentations. They have no roadmap on keeping Dust alive until Legion comes. Rouge and Praetorian put all their cards on an alpha, giving the current Dust community nothing. They were making stuff up on the go as to character transfer. All the presentations were labeled "Dust 514" but all of them were about Project Legion. That's like you'd go to watch the EVE keynote and the entire keynote was about Valkyrie and no real EVE keynote was coming.
They may talk about keeping Dust alive, but the fact is they didn't have anything prepared for Fanfest which would assure us of that. Rouge himself told us to wait a few weeks (weeks!) before we get more information on that - this means they did nothing but Legion in the last months, not even thinking about Dust... Oh, I get it full and well because it's being repeated by everyone in every amount of flowery language that somehow led it different. It's pretty clear, ifs simple, CCP screwed up their presentation and console players feel alienated with more or less all players feeling betrayed. I TOTALLY GET THAT. But, we've got to move forward. We can't get stuck up on 100% development on the PS3 because it is an aging console that never should have had Dust in the first place. And no, they didn't just "make up" the character transfer bit as they went along. There's more that goes on then people realize and it's certainly easy to assume things from the stream or recorded videos but I'm telling you that it's not the case. Likely my final comment here as many people are just repeating the same thing at this point. That and I have a plane to catch. I'm going to like every single on of your posts in this thread, because it is exactly how I think about it too. I don't get why people want the game on a $400 Console, but not on a $400 PC though. Just for some arbitrary rule they set for themselves that they're 'console' gamers and should not get a PC. http://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/how-to-build-your-own-steam-box/#!H9yx6 PC gaming, for Console prices. jeez, how many times do people have to hear this. We DO want legion on PC. We would have been happy with Dust on PC. But we also want it on PS4 because we're console gamers and not all of us want to spend the time or have the know-how to try and build a nice fancy computer when we can just buy a PS4 and sleep well knowing we will have NO compatibility issues with all PS4 games from now to kingdom come! I don't want to be worrying if the next version of the next hyped game will have to be run on medium settings because I don't have a fast enough graphics card.
It has nothing to do with some "arbitrary" rule. Btw, we're cool with there being a PC port of the game we love because "more players!!!" but we don't want to be left out of the loop because "oh sorry, no console." Also, my money is limited. I would rather buy a 400 ps4 than an 800 dollar pc, especially since I have a laptop that does everything I need from a PC right now.
