. . and that's where you are wrong. The largest benefit for a gaming on PC is not graphics, but the fact that the development environment and the ability to push content changes is so much easier on a PC vs a console. Face it, having to have Sony vet all your changes. . not to mention the fact that once a console is built it stays the same until end of life, is a huge stumbling block for continuous development.
Also, DUST was started back in '09. Beta started in 2011. PS4 development kits didn't ship 'till 2012. Do the math.
Fault CCP for complete tone deafness and pants on head stupidity for they way they have handled this change, I certainly do. But don't blame them for not developing a game for hardware that didn't exist during the initial beta, or change mid design and throw out their entire body of code (and yes coding for a PS3 and a PS4 is completely different) for a un-manufactured, un-shipped console.
On the one hand, porting to PS4 from PC will be alot easier than PS3 to PS4. On the other hand moving the game to PS4 puts PS4 Legion players on the same chopping block as DUST is now. . consoles will age and die.
Face it, this generation of Xbawks and PS is likely the last hurrah for a "dedicated" gaming machine. Quotes are due to the face that Console companies are trying to make them do everything a PC can do, minus using Office, ie video steaming, home entertainment, music.. blah blah.
Also, blame the initial team and last EP of DUST for all the undelivered promises. I am still waiting on the promised RTS elements. . .Rouge, d__k though he may be for delivering that keynote, has been given a pretty sh__ty task, which is to take this steaming pile of mediocrity and turn it into what it is supposed to be.
. . Also, just for all the PS3 only players. I bought a PS3 for two games. Kingdoms of Amalur, and DUST 514. Tell me I don't feel f__ked. . . after $250 for PS3 and accessories, $100 for a wireless headset (use wired for PC), $50-ish in BPO's & Aurum, $60+ for KoA & DLC. . . Could have gotten a damn good motherboard & a fat stack of memory for htat price and had a pretty damn good PC rig. . . I guess it (PS3) will replace my PS2 for a DVD player in the bedroom if/after Legion ships. |
