Basically, a reset with rewards for previous activity, and coveted legacy items. Not enough. I paid for Boosters. Just some gift SP for my time in Dust wouldn't cut it.
This argument is useless. The people that paid for the game are mad that their money would go down the drain and the people that did not pay in anything would rather see everyone start fresh.
The question becomes who CCP will care about more, the people that have supported this beta test with time and money or the people that have only put in various amounts of time. If anything is transferred everything should be transferred.
Only time will tell, specially since they were dumb enough to deliver this news with no obvious plan in place.

You guys don't know anything about eve do you?
Up until 3-4 years ago you could ghost train. This meant free passive SP without paying for it. Need cruiser lvl 5? just set it to train and let your account lapse for 3 weeks, then resub for a month.
Thousands of people did this for years in eve.
Oh how about free isk that would make the players in PC blush? Yep, you got free T2 BPOs from agent lotteries that had no compeition for 5+years, and they made insane amounts of isk from that. Or how about exploiting BILLIONS of isk every day through a few titan jump bridges in NPC null-sec with NPC buy orders? Or how about the latest thing, iskboxing wormholes/incursions... you can pay for your account in isk with a few hours work every month.
Please people, eve was and still is just as broken isk/sp wise as dust is. If you don't think so you just don't know much about eve.

I want all my skills and items including my BPO's witch I purchased with the long term commitment they promised if Legion is going to be the realization of their vision then that's what I have invested in.
for the new player experience they should bring at least bring back militia BPO's of every dropsuit, weapon and module as part of buying the game to include a LAV BPO.
Another thing they could do is use the 4 damage types to further connect legion to the EVE online universe.
I don't even know why I bother.

Making assumptions on my personal level off commitment is useless.
My argument is ultimately that Legion has to do everything it can to grab a healthy player base. Legion has to do everything possible to survive the second launch and become something in the long term.
When Uprising launched, I called the death of Dust within a year due to a bad launch and a large gap for new players to join the SP race among other things. It has now come to reality. All the factors that led to the death of Dust can now be taken into account in the ressurrection.
The reality to balance is new player retention during the critical first months of the new fps launch which will determine whether it gets off or tanks again. For the sake of new player retention, old player advantages need to be taken to a reasonable level. If Legion also dies within a year, what good will your hard earned SP do you?
On my commitment, I threw countless hours of game and metagame into Dust. I threw approx. 500 bucks in to help with the development. I posted multiple suggestions that are now implemented through both the forums and the CPM connections I had. Not many people have been involved in the level of commitment I have been in the metagame. You know what? I'll be happy to ditch this character, my connections, and start with nothing if Legion has the longevity to be worth playing.
Dust in Chromosome was worth playing for the potential, in uprising most everyone with reason quit for the obvious waste of potential. Legion resets the potential. It's just about whether there is any sense in being with this game in the long term. |
