I think that all of the ****-eyed optimists are overlooking the fact that DUST has lost a good majority of anyone who was around early on. So what makes anyone think that that "Project Legion" will be any better? Project DUST was stillborn.
Aside from all of the empty promises, changes in the very game's description, short-sighted PC design, and arrogant, holier than thou people who have actually spent 10 years of their lives wandering aimlessly through space...DUST is just not a very good game overall. And, it continues to get worse.
Everyone was told that they had to make a long term commitment to DUST while all of the while it was supposed to significantly be improved and updated over time. A year later on DUST and there is almost nothing that would motivate me, a console AND pc gamer, to want to use my high-end pc's hard drive space, for the "reimaging" of something that did not deliver any of the MMO FPS RPG, 'hardcore', action, etc. etc. etc.
I also think that most of the console people were under the impression that EVE online was something more massive than it really is. I think that most had made the assumption that EVE was full of hardcore spaceship action that would transfer and really correlate with DUST. Wrong. There is no REAL integration between the two, other than actual Orbital strikes, which are rather lame btw.
Also, once one figures out that mouse and keyboard controls are ridiculously advantageous over the PS3 controller, the jig is up, and the console enthusiast is put-out by what is either an inexcusable oversight, or a blatant action to give the PC EVE loyalists a hand up on the console controller users.
There are and have been several manifestos to all that is/WAS wrong with DUST. I won't make this another one.
Its not cool that people were laid off. That is internal and could have been the result of several different matters. I would hope that it wasn't a result of DUST's declining numbers (AUR buyers) because a severe drop-off is evident. My local channel was full during the beta and pretty much up until about 2 months after the "full game" launch. I haven't played much or at all in a while and for the last week or so, the most I have seen on that local channel is 5, self included.
I hope that CCP continues to develop DUST and I would like to see a PS4 "reimaging" someday. Best of luck with Legion, unless that "reimaging" is something significantly better than DUST, I won't even bother. And, when I say better, I don't necessarily mean deeper. It will obviously be deeper and probably too complex on PC for the average FPS, RTS people.
If were the king over there at CCP, I would transfer JUST the Core skills and basic weapons/ suits/ equipment/ etc. SCRAP cloaks, flaylocks, rail rifles, and all of the other mumbo jumbo BS. Completely rethink having 15 different projectile weapons...seriously? If I were them, I would completely start ground up with Legion and TRY to develop DUST into something worth playing for the masses.
Maps, vehicles, just everything. And don't get people's hopes up like you did with DUST. That supposed launch of the "full game" was really one of the most disappointing video game experiences that I ever had. I, probably like many others, was expecting this thing to go from a really rough beta, into this massively hardcore MMO were everyone would be constantly battling for numerous territories throughout a vast universe. Wrong.
Instead, it went from a really rough beta, into one of the poorer FPS lobbies on the market. Its a great vision, but I, being relatively new to CCP, am not confident that they can deliver such. Same game, with a thousand more bells and whistles but no real mechanical improvement or balance, is still not a winner. |

If you want to make a fantastic game, Inmprove the interactions between Eve and Dust.
We are a FW Gallente Corp. Our capsulier are in fight and it's impossible to find battles for dusters in their places , even if they plex during nights. I remember it was possible 1 year ago, to chose the battle. Now, they just stop to exist...
If you fix this, balance is ok I think. Time to start developpement for the assaults on stargates with capsulers etc... ^^
Don't trust all these noisy teens, this game is great!
You just made one point to how it has gotten worse. "year ago"
Game is horrible....look around. Where are all the players?
Not everyone who doesn't go down on CCP is a teen. However, judging by the complete lack of anything exciting going on in space and CCP's own dev posts within these very forums. It seems to be a company AND community with an adolescent mind-set. |
