It does, but the important thing is that it's easier to develop for PC. This gives CCP more freedom and flexibility to get the game right (as we now know, that's not a given). Once they reach that state, they can make a more informed decision about whether it's worth spending the resources to bring the game to a console platform again.
It just makes a whole lot more sense this way around. |

How is developing on an unfamiliar system with more constraints "the same" to you? This excuse may work with ps3, not ps4.
Not quite true. While PS4 is a PC architecture, that only refers to the hardware, not the SDK and infrastructure. It's still a whole lot different to making games on the PC. |

That's actually code for "we don't want to upset Sony, but dealing with the platform constraints is a giant PITA". I thought that much was obvious. :P |

I understand where your concern is coming from here, but this is a question that we cannot answer in any form. CCP Does not disclose it's financials. That's a yes. I mean, all these events, all these Aurum sales, pretty shady ****. If you think its not, well, then all respect is gone Saber (there isn't really any left, but, in a figurative way).
You really think DUST was financially successful? There is a reason we talked so much about EVE subscriptions subsidizing the game (which of course the PC users weren't all happy about either). We don't know what the specifics are, but we know that Saberwing wouldn't be able to tell you either way so it's pointless making assumptions. |

No it's simply not. Google it.
Well I haven't worked with Playstation before but as a game developer this is of course a subject I'm interested in. So I'm afraid that "google it" is not really helping me to see your point.
Are you saying that the SDK is identical to what you get on the PC? It isn't. Unreal Engine abstracts most of that, but not everything CCP does with their games is covered by Unreal.
Or are you saying that the infrastructure is identical? It may be a more open platform than the PS3, but that doesn't mean it's as anything-goes as the PC is. You still have to deal with a lot of restrictions.
Another thing that needs to be considered is that with the PS4 you are limited to one set of specifications. If you ever reach its limits, that's it. No more expansion, or you have to wait until the next console generation. From that perspective it's a lot more reasonable to build the game first and then see how it matches up with the PS4 capabilities, rather than make that discovery when it's already too late to change (as happened with DUST). |
